1st Trimester

Is very early pregnancy spotting a sign of mc?

Hi everyone! My husband and I, on a whim, decided to ttc a few months earlier than we had originally planned. I'd been charting, and according to the charts my fertile days were between the 16th and the 21st of October. I was suppose to start my period on the 1st. I started getting symptoms. Boobs got a bit bigger and were occasionally sensitive. Nausea at night. Some fatigue, etc. I've taken an obscene amount of pregnancy tests in the past week. I tested too early and wasn't getting anything with fr. So I switched to cb. I got very very faint positives every time I tested. I also took an ebt and got a very very faint positive. Then this morning I took two, a fr and a cb. The fr was a faint positive, but it was much clearer then any other of the tests I've taken. And I know I'm a crazy person. I have OCD. Aaaanyway, so for the first time in a week I felt more confident that, despite the barely there lines, I am indeed pregnant. And then this afternoon I wiped and there was some, I wouldn't even say brown, maybe tan, spotting. It lasted a few wipes, then went away. Does any one have any experience with this? Could it be signs of mc? This is my second pregnancy, and these freaking symptoms are throwing me for a loop. And I wasn't planning on calling the doctor until I had a firmer positive, or until I'd missed another period because they didn't even see me until 11 weeks with my first. I know inevitably its a waiting game, but reassurance would be welcomed!

  • For the faint positive line I would take a digital test to be sure, no guessing. As for spotting it can be completely normal. At 6 weeks, even though it only lasted a day I had pinkish/tan spotting and it was fine. Unless it is bright red I wouldn't worry too much. You can also call the doctor even though they won't see you yet to talk to a nurse and be sure.

  • I agree with the above - take a digital test. Brown spotting is usually old blood, possibly from implantation. Anything pink or red should be reported. I had pink during my first pregnancy and it was a sign of an ovarian cyst - I went on to have a healthy baby but the cyst was definitely something we needed to watch during my pregnancy. It never hurts to call your OB.

  • Agree that you should take a digital test to tell you pregnant or not pregnant.
Regardless, light spotting is not a sign of a miscarriage.  It is perfectly normal, and as long as you aren't experiencing any cramping or heavy bleeding, I wouldn't be concerned.

Everyone's experience is completely unique. So It is unwise to seek any reassurance from another's pregnancy spotting and have it make any sense for your situation. Your best bet is to wait and see. I wish you the best.
