Keeping baby warm at night

How is everyone keeping their child warm at night? I live in California and its been so hot ever since she was born and we finally have some cold weather now and I have my DD dressed in warm pjs but in this morning her hands are ice cold and her body is cold. I wish I could give her a blanket! At what age are they able to have blankets? I feel like she's smart enough at this point to take the blanket off her face if she can't breathe.

  • We just started using the Halo sleep sacks. They've worked out great!

Sleep sacks are popular, we haven't used them yet. I just tuck a blanket in at the bottom and sides and it only goes up to his chest so he can't pull it onto his face.

  • We use the ZipadeeZip - it's similar to a sleep sack.

Just as an FYI, it's okay if their hands are cold. Bubs sucks on his hands when he wakes up to put himself back to sleep, so they're always freezing. As long as the back of their neck is warm, they're good (according to my ped).

  • I lay him on a blanket and tuck it around him with his arms out. It's sort of like a sleep sack. I use those once in awhile too. He usually has the blanket kicked off of him when I get to his room.
  • I do footie pajamas over a onesie, plus a muslin blanket. Muslin is breathable so in case she pulls it over her face, she can breathe through it.
  • I also live in California too. I also tuck a blanket around his chest arms out. But he usually kicks it off lol
  • We use a Zipadeezip as well. I put my little guy in onesie, warm pjs (I pull sleeves over his hands) and his Zippadeezip. I also put a blanket over him which I tuck under his mattress. His hands are still cool in when he wakes up but not freezing.
  • We use a fleece infant sleeper w footies. He seems comfortable with that but agree w PP that his hands always seem cold regardless.
  • Footed pajamas and the love to dream swaddler
  • Footed pjs plus fleece halo sleep sack!
  • I don't understand how my two cats can burrow under my two 600-fill down comforters and remain there completely covered for an hour, breathing just fine, and for some reason a lightweight blanket could suffocate my baby if she gets it over her face? The Aleut in Alaska keep their babies burrowed (face and all!) under their sealskin parkas with them.
