When did dilation/effacement begin for you?

Hi all,
I'm having fraternal twins (boy, girl) and I'm due January 14th, which puts me at 29.4 today. I went to the docs office today because I had lots of clear discharge and baby boy wasn't moving very much. Turns out my water hadn't broken. BUT I'm 85% effaced, and 2 cm dilated. I was wondering if anyone else started this early and what the result was. Thanks in advance for your response!
