Cluster Feeding

LO is one week old and she's started to cluster feed at night. I can nurse her during the day every 3-4 hours and she's content. But at night she wants to constantly feed and won't let me take her from my breast. Is anybody else going through this? I've read it's normal, I would just like to know how others are surviving the late nights.

Re: Cluster Feeding

  • Just take it one day at a time. During those first few weeks, we would nurse in the bed, laying down (side lying position). It made things easier. And lots of coffee in the mornings lol.

Also, take a nap or two during the day with your baby is sleeping. It will give you some energy to survive the night.

I second this. LO is almost two weeks and keeps sleeping for one three hour period at night but otherwise it's constant. Yesterday and today were on a schedule of every hour pretty much. It's exhausting but it will get better
  • My LO cluster feeds ALL DAY LONG. He never wants anything else. It's so exhausting but I'm starting to feel like it's getting better! He's sleeping a little longer when he naps rather than every hour!
