Anyone else twingey?

I keep having these little sharp pains near my right hip, kinda where you expect ovaries and stuff to be. It's been on and off for days but is getting more frequent. Anyone else? Or am I in the freak out boat by myself?

Re: Anyone else twingey?

  • I sometimes get that! We also have a daily symptom thread that you can post this in too!

  • Absolutely! I've read a lot about a cyst that is necessary for the baby to develop... google it and there is a bunch of info. It is apparently normal unless the pain gets severe.

Totally forgot about the symptoms thread! Oops! Good to know I'm not alone! I've been avoiding google... I could really mess myself up with google.

Edited to talk about "the google"
  • I had this earlier (about 5w or 5w1d). I had sharp stabbing pain localized to a small area near my right hip. Turns out it was/is a cyst. Nothing to worry about unless pain is severe, bleeding occurs, or it grows too large.

Possibly this could apply to you, or it could be something else like others have said. If it worries you, call you doctors office to run it by them.
  • Dr. Google is the worst!

  • Exactly what @stwizzy said. Could be a cyst, especially if your babe came from that side when you ovulated. Note any severe pain, and call ob/midwife if you are concerned. During your ultrasound, be sure to ask which side ou ovulated from, and if there are signs of fluid, burst cyst on that ovary.
  • Don't google things pregnancy or medically related, ever!!! Dr.Google is not your friend!

I started having all sorts of abdominal and pelvic discomfort in week 3. 6w2d now and still having abdominal/pelvic discomfort. Some twinges, some mild cramping, some misc. aches and pains. From what I've read it's all pretty common and normal. I was starting to freak myself out during weeks 3-4 because I kept having moderate sharp, stabby pains by my right hip. And of course my scumbag brain is like "it's probably an ectopic pregnancy!" At least the sharp, stabby pains finally mostly went away.

    Also, about Dr. Google:
My experience with Dr. Google is usually something like this "headache and neck pain" then Dr. Google is like "you could have a tension headache which is totally normal. Or, you could also definitely have brain cancer. Or bacterial meningitis. Or you're having a stroke. Something something you're probably going to die."

  • The only thing worse than Google is Web MD. DH banned me from that one about 2 years ago...
  • See, I found Dr Google pretty good in this case! I'll agree most of the time, but when I googled specifically, the results all came up pretty decent sounding. But I suppose there's always the scary things. But yes, most of my twinges are on the side I ovulated from, so I assume mine are cyst related.

  • @NamelessAria --- You. Are. Me. Weeks 3-4, my left hip pain/low back cramps, I swore "I'm having an ectopic." I'm googling all these crazy forums like a nut. Since then (now 5w6d) the twinges have lessened in frequency & severity so I can be maniac about other things lol
