Nurses at hospital on strike

39+2 days here and the nurses at the hospital where I am delivering are on strike for the next 5 days. Obviously contract nurses will be hired but are they as good? Should I go to a different hospital that is over a bridge about 45 minutes (no traffic) but also good? Any experience with this issue?

Re: Nurses at hospital on strike

  • Contract nurses have to be better. I know a few and they have more experience then many RN. good luck

  • I wouldn't worry about the contract nurses as some prefer to be contract so they can travel.
  • Contract nurses can be good or bad. I'm a nurse and have worked with both types. I would say if you like your doctor and you have had a relatively normal, uncomplicated pregnancy, you would be fine staying at your current hospital.
