Chiropractic care for migraine relief?

I am 32w5d and have had recurring migraines since around week 8, about 2 per month. They are so intense I can't do anything except puke and cry. I can't even keep fluids down. They last on average for 3 to 5 days and the pain goes all through the left side of my head, neck, and halfway down my back. I have tried numerous medications and I'm done. Nothing helps and I hate taking pills, especially exposing my unborn daughter to them. I have FINALLY gotten a referral for a chiropractor. I am wondering, has anyone gotten migraine relief from prenatal chiropractic care? I am also considering a prenatal massage in addition. Can I expect immediate relief from either? I have never been to a chiropractor. I seriously can't take this anymore, I am willing to try anything at this point. I can't miss anymore work or risk losing my job.

Re: Chiropractic care for migraine relief?

  • I have used a chriopractor this oregnancy for sciatica pain and migranes. The first adjustment of my neck, I almost felt like pressure was released fromy ears. my head felt lighter and my headaches went away. I say go for it, as long as you've spoken to uour doctor about it and have a referral to one that works with pregnant women.

  • I have had horrible migraine headaches since about 25 weeks-- I now see my chiro every Tuesday/ Thursday & it's helped a lot!
  • I've been seeing a chiro since Aug and my headaches are WAY better! Plus lately he's been helping me with my leg cramps too!
  • I think massage and chiropractic care is an excellent way to help with migrains. Good luck.
  • Update: thanks everybody, for the encouragement! Just wanted to give an update and say the chiropractic care has helped 100%!!! The relief was immediate. He helped me out with the lower back pain and sciatica too. I had no idea that what I was experiencing was not normal, I thought pregnancy was just absolutely miserable (my first, obviously). I feel the best I have felt throughout my entire pregnancy at 35 weeks and have so much more energy. I cannot believe my doctor prescribed drugs before suggesting this and I would strongly urge anyone experiencing headaches to try a chiropractor to replace pain killers!
