Do you ever feel like taking a brake??

I'm so exhausted!! After 2 years of ttc and 2 miscarriages....I just feel like I need to take some time off. Does anyone else feel this way?

Re: Do you ever feel like taking a brake??

  • Yes I feel that way too.  Physically and emotionally exhausted

Absolutely! And I think there is nothing wrong with it. My husbands job will cause us to take a 2-3 month break in the spring and as much as I'm praying I get pregnant before then - I'm looking forward to the break.

    Me: 26 DH: 27
    TTC: October 2014
    IUI #1: July '15 - BFN; IUI #2: Aug '15 - BFN; IUI #3 Oct '15 - BFN; IUI #4: Nov '15 - BFP
    1st Beta: 57. 2nd Beta: 177. 3rd Beta: 6563
12/18/15: 6week Ultrasound - ONE STICKY LITTLE NUGLET!!!

  • Absolutely! We have only been working with our RE since end of May, but after TTC for 3 years, 4 IUIs, one was a miscarriage, an egg retrieval that resulted in OHSS and cancelled fresh transfer and now prepping for a FET in mid December - we are emotionally, physically, financially and mentally drained! We are also waiting to see the doc again for fear of egg quality issues because the retrieval harvested 24 eggs, however, only 3 made it to freeze and they are fair to poor quality :(

So, God forbid it, but if this FET fails, we will have to take a break to save more money for another IVF cycle and most likely PGS to see what's going on.

I was so hoping to be pregnant and have a nice, calm, wonderful holiday season.

    :((
  • I have thought about it too . I've done two TI cycles with injectables, and two IUIs with injectables . One miscarriage . Waiting for beta results from this morning that I'm pretty sure will be a negative . I am sick of crying almost everyday . I've gained so much weight. I don't want to take a break bc I just want to get pregnant but I don't know how much more I can realistically handle without completely losing my mind . I am seeing a therapist which has helped some but she has suggested that I take a break . Not sure what to do .

  • I just had a miscarriage. 2nd one this year. We are going to IVF but waiting until January to begin. I need a brake. And I am so fat, it's sad. I have put on almost 15 pounds! My leggings are tight!
  • Yes, I obviously really really really want to get pregnant this round, but if it doesn't happen, I am so ready to take a few months off to work out, lose weight, feel no guilt or over analyzing on drinking, and enjoy my life with DH. My break would mainly be due to my coworkers maternity leave, but it is a nice "excuse" to mandate a 3 month break before I would jump into IVF.
    Married to DH 10/6/12
    TTC since 5/14
Unexplained with (controlled) hypothyroidism and suspected ovulatory dysfunction (but, I do ovulate on my own)
    Clomid 50 mg 3/15 (unmonitored) - BFN
    Clomid 50 mg + metformin 4/15 (unmonitored) - BFN
First RE appt. 5/15; Natural cycle 5/15 monitored with 2 mature follicles and Pregnyl Trigger (full dose) + prometrium - BFN
6/15 HSG - clear tubes & normal uterus; great PCT test results
TI - 100 mg Clomid + prometrium (AM & PM) + vaginal estrace (AM & PM) 6-7/15 (monitored) --> no additional response and thinned lining - BFN
    TI - Injectables (follistim + Gonal-F, Ganirelix, & 1/2 dose Pregnyl) + prometrium (AM & PM) 9/15 --> 3-7 mature follicles (3 definites and 4+ that could have matured due to trigger) @ O -->BFN + 5 large cysts
BC for 2 weeks due to cysts
    TI - Injectables (Gonal-F, Ganirelix & full dose Pregnyl) + prometrium (AM & PM) 10/15 --> 1 mature follicle --> BFN
TI - Last attempt at injectables (Gonal-F, Ganirelix & 1/2 dose Pregnyl) + crinone (AM only) + vaginal estrace (AM & PM) 11/15 --> 3-4 mature follicles --> BFP!! 11/27/15 @ 13dpo (shockingly, actually waited until then to test)

    Beta #1 @ 16dpo (11/30/15) = 1,075
    Beta #2 @ 19dpo (12/3/15) = 3,150
One baby: Saw heartbeat @ 5w5d (114 bpm; baby measuring 2.3mm)

    "Great Things are Happening"
  • I will likely take a short break if I don't get a BFP by the end of the year. Our deductable resets January 1st, so that's a good excuse to take a break - but it will probably be just one month, because I'm 43 and don't have the luxury of taking a long break if I want any chance of success!
    Me: 43, DH: 41
    DS b. 7/4/2011 via c/s

    12/18/15 - IUI #4 (100mg Clomid + Ovidrel) - BFN

  • We took a few months off in the spring when I was contacted about potentially donating bone marrow (it turned out they didn't need me, though).  When AF came those months, it was so refreshing not to feel disappointed and sad.

  • I am taking a break til end of February. This was our plan for awhile and I feel almost happy about it. Don't get me wrong, I wish desperately to be pregnant but I am going to focus on me, get healthy, and have fun with my man and then restart with a new RE.
      • TTC #1 since August 2014
      • currently on 5th medicated IUI cycle
  • I feel this from time to time. We have been trying for about 5 years and have had multiple surgeries. I usually change my mind because I feel like time is not on my side. The longer we wait, the higher the chance the endo and fibroids will return, even with BC to control hormones. It's been an emotional/physical roller coaster that is still going.
TTC #1: March 2011 (slightly before)
    Fur-children: 3 dogs + 2 cats (all rescued)
    dx: Endometriosis and Fibroids
2 Laps and 1 Abdominal Myomectomy
    6 rounds of clomid
    5 rounds of iui
Several HSG's sprinkled throughout the years to up my chances of a BFP
Several dilation of cervix because they suspect the scar tissue is hindering it from fully opening (partially adds to the severe cramps all month)
IVF #1 Gonal F, Menopur and Cetrotide
    ER 12/1/2016
    ER-Retrieved 22 eggs 10 fertilized
4/4 day 5 embryos were normal for PGS!!! 2 boys/2 girls
    FET 1/10/2017
    Gallbladder surgery 1/10/2017
FET estimated end of Feb, beginning of March
