Unsettling ultrasound

Dating ultrasound today... my ovulation comes late, I know this. So if my pregnancy is dated to the first day of my last period - I would be 8 weeks. But I know we did not conceive until Sep21st or so... I had a faint positive test on Oct2nd. Today at my ultrasound the doctor could see the yolk sac, but could not confirm embryo/heartbeat. He said I could only be about 5 weeks. Basically he told me to wait - if I bleed, that's that. But I'm to go back in a few weeks. I still have all my pregnancy symptoms, no bleeding, no cramping. I'm trying to stay positive but it was disheartening. I'm just looking for some insight if anyone has any.

Were you temping and charting to figure out when you ovulated? If you know your actual O date you can count from there.

Exact same boat as me, went last week thinking I was 7 weeks but measured 6 weeks with only a yolk sac. I was pretty sure I timed every thing to a T. I went today for a second ultrasound and baby was there, low heart beat. But still.. Baby was there. Stay postive. My test was faint too on the 4 of oct. I think I O on the 23. So we are pretty close in our dates. Stay hopefuly. Thinking of you.

Thanks ladies. I'm not sure exactly when I ovulated. My cycles are 34 days. Today it would be about 5-6 weeks since the day I'm sure we conceived. I just know this because I have a good memory of events. I figured we would see something other than just the yolk sac... but I will definitely keep my head up.

Mine will be the same tomorrow. I am barely 6 weeks but by lmp I would be almost 9 weeks. If you know when you ovulated and got your BFP I wouldn't worry yet.

Please try not to worry yet. You are still early and in therr is so much growth that happens in a week's time during this stage.

My story is the same as yours!! I ovulate late and could not go by my LMP. My conception date was September 22nd. At my first appointment they did a ultrasound and there was only a yolk sac. No baby no heartbeat. They told me I was just early and to come back in a week. The next week I went back very nervous and had another ultrasound there was a baby and a heartbeat of 135! I was 6w6d and the first time I went I was only 5w4d. Doctor said now that they see a baby and good heartbeat my due date is June 16th and all is perfect! Pleaseee do NOT worry. Next time you will see your sweet baby. When you worry just stop and pray!

I'm in a similar boat. I know my O date from charting, and according to u/s baby is measuring 8 days behind and no hb.

My doc told me there is a +/- 5 day standard of error on the u/s, so keep that is mind. Also, it would be really hard to know when you conceived unless you're charting. Even with charting, I might be off by a couple days. If you're basing your estimate off of days you had sex, keep in mind sperm can live up to 3-5 days and fertilize long after you had sex.

I know it's hard, but try your best to stay calm. T&P for you.

If you weren't temping its very difficult to be sure on conception date because even if you only had sex once during the time you could be fertile you could have ovulated the day after and conception occurred then or you could have had sex 4 days before you ovulated as well. So conception date could vary by as much as a week. If that makes any sense at all. Most likely you are just earlier in your pregnancy than you thought.
