HELP!!!!

My son is 31 weeks and has severe separation anxiety problems from me, everytime I'm not holding him he screams until he quits breathing I cannot leave the room or give him to anyone else to hold because of this does anyone have any advise?

Re: HELP!!!!

  • My son JUST went through this and he's fine now. I read that between 29 and 30 weeks or so they start having this but it subsides within a week or two. I just carried my baby around all day (my back is now messed up but oh well!) lol. Hang in there, it's a relatively short phase.

  • When my LO gets like this, I try to keep her in the same room where she can see me, but continue whatever I'm doing and say something like, " You're ok. Mommy needs to do a few things right now. You're fine. Mommy will be with you in just a minute." I just keep talking to her trying to reassure her that she is fine. I smile at her and sing songs to take her mind off of it. After a few minutes I'll pick her up and cuddle her and say, "See?  Everything is fine. Mommy loves you so much." Sometimes it works better than others.

Hang in there! I agree with @chandlersmama25

  • Went through it with my first, going through it with my second. I just carry LO everywhere. If I need to cook or do chores, I stick her in the ergo on my back. It's a developmental milestone and completely normal. My firstborn is SUPER independent now, so no worries about it lasting forever.
