My son is 31 weeks and has severe separation anxiety problems from me, everytime I'm not holding him he screams until he quits breathing I cannot leave the room or give him to anyone else to hold because of this does anyone have any advise?
My son JUST went through this and he's fine now. I read that between 29 and 30 weeks or so they start having this but it subsides within a week or two. I just carried my baby around all day (my back is now messed up but oh well!) lol. Hang in there, it's a relatively short phase.
When my LO gets like this, I try to keep her in the same room where she can see me, but continue whatever I'm doing and say something like, " You're ok. Mommy needs to do a few things right now. You're fine. Mommy will be with you in just a minute." I just keep talking to her trying to reassure her that she is fine. I smile at her and sing songs to take her mind off of it. After a few minutes I'll pick her up and cuddle her and say, "See? Everything is fine. Mommy loves you so much." Sometimes it works better than others.
Went through it with my first, going through it with my second. I just carry LO everywhere. If I need to cook or do chores, I stick her in the ergo on my back. It's a developmental milestone and completely normal. My firstborn is SUPER independent now, so no worries about it lasting forever.
