Swing and bouncer and infant seat?

Hi all,
So far I got the mamaroo and nothing else. Wondering if I also need a bouncer or infant seat (the pillow kind). I heard the small bouncers are good cause they are more portable.
Our house is so small I only want what we need or is something that will Def make my life easier.

(Searched for other threads like this and.couldn't fin one)

Re: Swing and bouncer and infant seat?

  • Rock and plays are extremely easy to move around the house. You may want to consider that instead of a bouncer or seat.

  • We have a swing setting in our living room. It is huge and bulky (our living room is small too) but I know my nephews loved that thing! I have a small portable bouncer as well that I'll use for traveling! It's worth it to get at least one, in my opinion.
  • It's my understanding that the mamaroo kind of replaces the bouncy/infant seat. I have the rockaroo and I'm uber excited about it. I'm going to wait and see how baby reacts to it to decide if I'm going to go ahead and get a bouncy though. It might be a good idea to have one put up in a closet just for travel purposes though.
  • With DS I had a rock and play and a swing that converts into an infant seat too. It worked out great! I didn't buy anything else for this lo.

  • I've been wondering the same thing. We have the mamaroo as well. Thanks for posting I will be following this!!
  • We have a swing & the Rock N Play sleeper! Our daughter never really liked the bouncer when she was a baby so we are holding off to see if we will need one this time around.
  • Babies will decide what they like to sleep in and you won't really know until you know. Which means, you can go about this two ways. You can start with the mamaroo and if baby loves it then you might not need anything else. Or, you can get one or two other things as options just in case the mamaroo doesn't work or you just want to see what baby likes best. One option isn't better than the other. Totally up to you!

For us, we were handed down a bunch of random things. We have a vibrating chair, and infant pillow thing, and a bouncy chair. We have a mamaroo on our registry but I doubt anyone will spend that much (jealous!). We're going to start with those and see how baby does ... then go from there.
  • DD hated the swing. Loved the bouncy chair. Both were borrowed from SIL.

  • Right now I have a swing and I think I want to get a relatively, unspecial bouncer. and then a bouncy play center for once they are bigger.

  • I second the rock n play as being a good second place to set the baby, easy to move around, and closes up to store out of sight. Baby can sleep in it too.
  • We got a swing for DS that has a detachable seat so it doubles as a bouncy seat. He hated bouncy seats but loved the swing, just had to be moving. Like others have said, it will depend entirely on the baby. Personally, we'll see how this little one does with the swing we got with DS, if she hates it as the swing or bouncy seat we'll look at other options (but only if we can test them out in store first).
  • Thanks for the feedback ladies. Will start with our mamaroo (returnable after a couple weeks of use at buy buy baby if he doesn't like it) and get the bouncer seat if needed. We do have an exersaucer for when he is a bit older. Thank god for you ladies!
  • Bouncer is good for when you want to take a shower and have baby in the bathroom or anyplace where you can't fit the other gear. The rock n play is much bigger than a bouncer. My sons daycare uses bouncers to get all the little ones to sleep over any swings they have FWIW
