Early induction due to gestational diabetes... How does it work and how did your labor go? I plan to talk more with my OB next week about it but I'm clueless about it all
I have been induced twice due to GDM. The first time, I was induced 10 days early because the baby's heart rate dropped during a contraction during an NST, and the doctor decided to induce. With that one they placed a pill behind my cervix. A fee hours later they placed a Foley catheter Balloon side in the cervix and inflated the balloon. (This was painful to me worse than pitocin). Then they started pitocin. From start to finish it took 15 hours.
With the second, I went in at 0700, they started pitocin and I had him at 2:10 PM. This delivery was a lot smoother than the first.
First was born in a military hospital, second was a civilian, and this one will be military. The first was and 3rd are teaching hospitals and the second was not. They will not induce me any earlier than 39 weeks unless medically necessary. I plan to not let them do anything other than pitocin and an epidural when I think I need it
I have GD supposedly but i was only 1 point off on my test and they are making me check my sugar just to be safe... Sucks.. But im not getting induced at all... So why do you have to? Thats crazy. Unless the baby and you are at risk GD does not mean inducing...
I was induced at 38 weeks with my daughter with misoprostal I started contracting and when my progression slowed I got pitocin. Start to finish 24 hrs it wasn't really all that bad,bim anticipating a similar course
They broke my water due to low fluid levels at 39 weeks, never needed pitocin...had a hard, fast 6 hour labor. I would actually say it was an awesome experience if my epidural had worked haha! Induction can be pretty painful, so I highly recommend pain control if you aren't anti.
@vanmostudio if you don't mind sharing, how low was your fluid? I'm being monitored weekly for mine. Also, baby girl is breech. Between those two things, I'm kind of expecting a c-section to be scheduled early.

You're being induced just because of GD, or another issue? My doctor was induce for GD if sugars are controlled.
