No contractions - Is labor further away than I think?

I tried looking this up and couldn't find anything. Aside from occasional menstrual-like cramping (kind of like lower back pain) and pain from the baby stretching/kicking, I haven't had any type of pain or contractions. I'm 40+3 weeks at this point and am wondering if the lack of contractions means I've still got a ways to go. Have any STMs ever gone into labor without experiencing any warm-up or BH contractions throughout their pregnancies?

    With my first son, I had zero contractions before my water broke.  With this pregnancy, my third, I have been having regular relatively strong contractions 8 to 12 minutes apart for a month now.  But I have not gone into labor, so you never know.

    Have you talked to your doctor? They can check if you're dilated or going anywhere with labor. He could be way more useful than us.

    I'm about 3 cm and 50% effaced. People can walk around like that for quite a while, though. My doctor said it's just a waiting game at this point. I'm just starting to go a little crazy.

    3rd pregnancy and NONE of them had warm up anything. No baby dropping, BH, bloody show, NOTHING until I actually go into labor. It sucks but it could still happen tonight. <3

    I feel you! With my first I had no BH, no irregular contractions, and wasn't dialated at all when they checked me just before my due date. I went in to labor the day after my due date. You just never know!

    0 Contractions with my first two, even after my water broke. I have had to have pitocin with both deliveries. With my first my contractions stopped while I was pushing!! Our bodies are weird and wonderful. Hang in there mama!!

    I had zero contractions until after my water broke. Lack of them means nothing.
