Mini Pill & Breastfeeding.

So the doc said that the mini pill COULD affect my milk supply, & right now I am too scared to take the pill b/c after 6 weeks of struggles, me and baby are finally feeding great. DH is asking for sexy time but I don't want to take the pill just yet & im also terrified of getting pregnant again (so quick). DH also hasn't gone to pick up any condoms, so idk how bad he really wants it. Anyone have issues with the mini pill? Shall I wait longer that way my supply is super established?? Ugh this is super complicated decision, but DH is being supportive and not complaining too bad.

  • I am on the mini pill and have been for 1 week now and it hasn't seemed to affect my supply. Good luck

  • I've been on the mini pill for 6 days and i haven't really noticed a difference in my supply.
  • As long as you are nursing frequently and no longer than 6 hours between feedings. Nursing acts as a natural birth control. I chose not to take the mini pill, milk supply is not something I'm willing to risk. My midwife stated that she has seen women who weren't affected at all by the pill, and some women who were affected greatly by the pill. It can swing either way.

  • i've taken the mini pill with both girls and had no change in supply. I will warn that you need to double up for the first month on the pill--it takes that long to be effective.

    Good luck!

  • I just started my second pack and had no issues with supply. The papers say you only need to wait 48hrs to be effective.

I've been taking them for 3weeks now & my supply in guess did decrease a bit. I used to get about over 4oz from one breast now I maybe can barely get 5oz from Both breasts. I thought it was just my supply being low? Im breast feeding & supplementing but I breast feed him a lot maybe 1-2bottles a day other than that I breast feed. I thought it was just me cause the OB told me the mini pill doesn't affect my breast milk at all & is safe was it all a lie? <:(
  • I've been on the mini pill for 10 days and haven't seen a change in supply. I was advised to take it for a full week before having sex and that my husband should pull out since on its own it's only 85-95% effective, and that's only if you take it at the same time every day.
  • I've been on the mini pill for the last three weeks and have seen somewhat of a decrease in supply, but this is probably mostly due to less-frequent breastfeeding and giving him regular bottles of formula.
