Godparent question

Do you typically give a gift to the godparents at the baptism or no??

    I would think not, since the baptism is about the baby.

    i bought a frame with 2 photo spots and printed off this godparent poem I found online and put a picture of our son on the other side.

    I'm not sure if it is typically done but I'm my niece's godmother and my sister gave me a pretty silver cross with 'Godmother' inscribed on it along with a handwritten note of thanks.

    My sister in law just asked my husband and I to be sponsors for her daughers baptism. We are honored but pretty unfamiliar with these things. Do we give a gift to our niece for the baptism?

    It depends. I'm orthodox and the sponsors traditionally buy the cross and provide candles and the icon of the patron saint, so I would ask what the tradition is, because it's different for different churches.
