Moms expecting twins

I went in today at 7 weeks 4 days for my first ultrasound. There were two yolk sacks, two fetuses, but only one of them had a heartbeat. The tech told me the one just wasn't viable and would be absorbed, but I've heard stories from friends of having this happen and later there are two viable babies.

When did you see the heartbeat for both fetuses? Did any of you have them show up at different times? Or is 7 weeks far enough along to know for sure?
Just looking for experiences. Thank you!

    We saw both heartbeats at under 6 weeks.

    Are you sure you're 7w along? Did you speak to a doctor in regards to the no heartbeat or just the tech?
    I don't want to give any false hope and I'm sorry if one doesn't continue to progress.

    I have no IRL experience for you. I've seen most people here hearing a heartbeat by week 6 if they go in that early. It's only once in a blue moon you see a late 7 or 8. Might be possible though. Sorry this is happening, hang in there.

    We found out last week we are having twins, my dating ultrasound was off by 3 days I thought we were 8X2 days but dated me at 7x6 days we were able to see both heartbeats pretty quick.

    If your dates are off then that could be why , i would def be going in for another scan before making any conclusions.

    We saw 2 hb at 6 weeks also. But ours are identical so they share the same sac.  If your are fraternal they may have implanted at different times and you may not be as far along as you thought?

    Most likely you would have seen two heartbeats. My twins were 1-2 days apart in conception/implantation but we saw two heartbeats. The dr is most likely correct but you never know. See if they will let you come in again around 9 weeks.

    I go in Wednesday for a regular check up, so we should be able to hear the baby's heart beat with the Doppler (I'll be 10 weeks) but won't get another ultrasound until 12 weeks. I'm assuming the one baby is ok and the other is gone, I guess I'll know for sure after my next appointments. The doctor and midwife weren't there the last time so this will be my chance to talk to one of them about it. I'm sure they can explain it better
