BreastFeeding / sleeping help

Hello ladies , my LO was born 2 days ago and we are home now . He's doing a great job latching and sucking and I usually do 15 minutes each breast . When he's finished he usually pulls away or falls asleep. My problem is getting up and putting him in his co sleeper . He wakes up always about 10 minutes after crying . I don't know if he's still hungry or what gives but he won't go to sleep and he wakes up to feed almost every hour . Any tips or suggestions welcome, thanks !

Re: BreastFeeding / sleeping help

  • I'm at day 10 and having the same issue. My LO hates to be swaddled. She wakes 10 minutes after I put her in the bassinet and wants to be held. My SO and I take turns holding her all night but day time I keep trying the bassinet. Any advice I've gotten is not in keeping with the sids recomendations, so I'm just waiting. The pediatrician said as her stomach gets larger she will need to eat less and a full baby will sleep much better. Good luck.

  • When my son was 2-3 days old, I was feeding him the same, about 15 mins each side til he fell asleep. I noticed once I put him down he'd wake up shortly after and cry.. We couldn't figure it out until I tried latching him again and in fact he was still hungry. He was just falling asleep and didn't finish.
  • Hungry. My baby cluster fed the first 3 nights. So much so my milk came in even before I left the hospital. Slept for about 40 min collectively the second night. Last night I got about 4 hours of sleep collectively, so he's getting better. He's 5 days old today. Always feed him. If he's not hungry he won't eat.
  • My 10 day old does this and I was told if it's quiet it can scare baby since they are used to noise. So's snoring sometimes helps my guy but we're purchasing a humidifier just for the white noise to help him sleep. He also cluster feeds a lot
  • My boy cluster fed the first couple days which was frustrating bc I was super eager to keep to a schedule. However, this subsided ad I've now learned that sometimes when they're fussy right after a full feeding, they probably have gas/need to burp. One of my friends that's helping me with my Baby Wise techniques said to always check their diaper, if they need to burp, and their temperature first before offering the breast. I've done that and found many times it's a burp that hadn't come up yet and needed to for relief. My little Brooks is 1.5 weeks old now btw.
  • My LO was doing this too...I feed till she is full, I keep it dark and quiet, then I burp her and hold her for about half an hour while listening to white noise. If you put her down to quickly she won't be in a deep sleep and will wake up. There are tons of free whits noise apps available to download on iTunes.
