I was needing some helpful advice or just some advice even if it isn't helpful lol. Let me explain, I am currently 26 weeks pregnant and approximately 9 weeks ago I ended up with a presumed Kidney Stone or a blockage and had to have a stent placed between my kidney and bladder. I had one replacement at 5 weeks and Thursday will be my second replacement. I will continue to have to have a replacement once a month or so until after Baby Joyce is delivered. If you haven't had a stent pray you never have one, I think getting bit by a rabid raccoon would be more pleasurable. I currently work at a daycare with 2 and 3 year olds. Needless to say, it takes a lot of work and energy. The stent becomes irritated with the more activity I do. My doctor recommended that I cut back hours at work because of the pain and irritation brought on by the stent. I have had two minor infections (think UTIs), have missed a few days of work because of the pain they caused, and have to take pain medication on a daily basis to function at my job. I asked my Urologist what other patients have done or what he would recommend and I got an unanswer. "Well, uh I don't know, everyone is different." Yes, I understand that but I would like more of a suggestion or conversation than that. OR I would just like to know what other ladies have done when facing medical issues and were recommended to reduce hours.
Re: I need some helpful advice and not more wishy washy blither blather :)
It's a boy! Grow baby, grow! EDD: 4/22/2016
Ultimately as your pregnancy progresses, discomfort will get worse, and you'll be peeing a lot more as the baby grows bigger too. Ending up on enforced sick leave or being in constant pain won't help you or mental state towards your baby, but by cutting back now maybe it will allow you to continue working for longer and be able to give of your best whilst with the kids at daycare - which I'm sure is what you'd want to do?
Sending hugs regardless.
This.
You can ask to see a different Urologist that might be more helpful or you just cut back on your hours at work. I had to do that sporadically throughout my pregnancies and at the very end of both.
I had kidney stones that I passed by myself, but the other option available to me was a small procedure to break up the stone and take it out. I think you have to be twilight sedated, but you can get pregnancy safe ways to do that. Is there another option to remove or break up the stone so you can pass it on your own? Not gonna lie, its awful to pass the stone, but not sure what your situation is that requires stents.
