First time mommy, baby is 5 days today, I feel like it has started "letting down" but I haven't experienced that rush or pain like I hear it is. Milk is no longer as golden. Just wondering how many days after delivery did milk come in??
Even then, though, I never got the over-full feeling and leaking that I remember from dd1 after my milk came in. But my little one is gaining weight and has plenty of wet & poopy diapers, so all signs point to her getting enough milk. She's 12 days old now and my milk seems pretty well-regulated.
Mine came in on day 4/5. I only had colostrum then between morning and evening my milk came in and my boobs were engorged and letting down. It changed pretty fast.
Mine came on day three, but I never had real engorgement. I can't really feel when it "let's down" either, but my nipples are also extremely sore which may be masking the feeling.
She was born Monday, milk came in on Thursday. I do experience a letdown pain, usually about 30 sec after she starts to nurse. Mine is a sort of strong squeezing sensation at the back of the breast, and I feel it on both sides regardless of which side she is nursing on. Sometimes I will feel it more than once if she nurses a long time.
Mine came in on day 4 with engorgement. I only feel the let down when I think about feeding him, never when I actually am. Mine feels like a surge of electricity with a tinge of pain. Coolest/weirdest thing ever!
Mine came in the third day. But it was a couple weeks before I felt a really obvious letdown. Now when she starts feeding, I feel an obvious letdown pain on both sides. So it may take a while for you to feel it
I had a c section, which can delay the milk coming in. Mine took 5-6 days. I couldn't really tell except when I self expressed it got a lot more watery than the colostrum. I never feel the let down, just a heaviness when I go a long time between pumping (longest I have gone is 4 hours). I am basically exclusively pumping due to latching issues.
Mine was in when I woke up day 4. The night before I got hot/cold flash and went for the thermometer to check for a fever which I didn't. I learned this is very common right before milk comes in. (From my Public Health Nurse)
