Prenatal testing

Hi ladies,
I recently switched doctors because I decided to switch hospitals. My new doctor is recommending I get this very expansive test called inheritest. I already got tested for cystic fibrosis and all the other basic stuff, which came back normal. Has anyone else gotten the inheritest done ? What did your dr recommend you get tested for? Thanks !

    Sorry, no real experience as I'm a FTM. Did they say why they recommended it? I believe certain factors like age could lead to a doctor suggesting more extensive prenatal testing. Make sure you research it too, because I read that certain tests can increase your risk of miscarriage. Definitely weigh the risk vs peace of mind.

    It's just a blood test. It tests for literally every kind of genetic disorders. I have no family history but they're doing it on all patients. It's expensive !

    The office I go to only does that on high risk pregnancies. If you are low risk and not worried I would probably opt out of it. No need to spend the money without a cause.

    I had it with DD and went though the insurance wringer to ensure that it was fully covered.  It's definitely optional.  I always choose the path that provides the most information.  If cost is an issue, remember that women have healthy babies everyday without having had this test.

    Thanks ! I'm going through the insurance wringer before I get it tested. Money isn't really the issue, but if insurance will pay for it I may as well wait until it gets approved. Without approval the tests are $950.
