My 11 month old has been waking up at night for 9 days straight which is very unusual for her. She is just getting done from a cold so we thought maybe that was it but now that shes getting better I'm worried that she now is just making this a habit. We try to not give her a bottle at night but every night its becoming harder and harder to put her down. After 2 hours of trying to get her down, my husband and I will give up and give her a bottle and usually shortly after that she will go down on her own. Any advise would be greatly appreciated! We've never had to sleep train before because she always just slept through the night since 3 months but ever since she can stand up in her crib on her own we've had some troubles putting her down without her being rocked.
Re: 11 month old waking up at night now, tired mama
When you say you aren't giving her a bottle at night, is that right before bed? Or when she wakes up in the MOTN?
I still rock my 13 month old every night before bed while she drinks her milk so I'm not one that will tell you to stop that. I rocked my son for as long as he would let me, until he got too old and he has always slept great. I don't think rocking creates bad habits.
Your LO probably is in the habit of waking up because of her cold and needing you to help her go back to sleep. When she wakes in the night, have you tried just letting her fuss and not going in? That's what I would do. I doubt she needs the calories from a bottle at this point. She just wants you.
