Should I wake baby up to feed?

My baby will be 4 weeks on Tuesday and last night and today, she figured out how to sleep. She slept for 6.5 hours last night and she is napping now. It has been 4.5 hours since last time I breastfed. We already had our 1 month appointment and the pediatrician has no concerns about her growth and he feels she is doing great. Is it ok to let her sleep?

  • I have always been told you only wake if they haven't gotten back up to their birth weight or if they are having growth issues. Enjoy your sleep!

  • I would let sleep! If it's more than 8 I would prob wake up.
  • Consider yourself lucky and let the baby sleep. You only wake a sleeping baby who needs to gain weight.
  • Let her sleep but consider getting up to pump at least once. If you go more than 5 hours without nursing it can bring back your period and possibly lower your supply...

This is interesting. I've never heard the correlation between time between feeding/pumping and return of your period.....off to do some Googling :D

100% true. Once my baby started sleeping 5hr stretches at night aunt flow returned. Fertility also returns before the period so have another birth control method.
