I've literally never heard of games being played, besides people taking a guess on which sex the baby is. I feel like gender reveal parties should not have games, then people will think they need to bring gifts etc. It's not a shower. Just my opinion.

I was wondering this as well. We're doing ours the weekend after Thanksgiving for our annual Friendsgiving/Left Overs party. We're doing the pink vs blue football theme and starting a fantasy poll for the due date (family and friends are suuuper competitive) $5 per date, and winner gets the pot! (You bet your ass we're playing too!)
@Knottie9983816 that sounds fun! My friends are already betting as well, it could be fun to make a poll But I agree with @NachosAndPeaches, I don't think games would be appropriate. But then again, I had never heard of gender reveal parties before joining the board.
I think starting a pool would be fine, that's sort of different than a game and people can enter later as well. When I said games would be weird I guess I meant typical Shower games or "advice to the parents" and trivia sheets, etc. A pool would be fun. You could also do bets on baby's sex and then out of those who guessed right pull one from that jar (have a pink and blue jar) to win a prize. For some reason I put that in a different category than the others.

We did a poll at ours. $5 to enter and guess the gender. After we announced, a name was drawn from the stack of people that wrote down "boy" and they won all the money.
My friend had thrown herself a "sprinkle" for baby #3 (I know, super tacky) and for a gender reveal everyone wrote on a piece of paper if it was a boy or girl and the winners got a door prize. To reveal the gender, they cut into the "sprinkle" cake which the inside was pink or blue.

Thanks for the replies ladies! We too are hosting out own gender reveal part the Saturday of Thanksgiving. All family is in town and wanted to be surprosed together. This is our first so My husband and I couldn't wait to find out... we already know gender. We too are doing quaterback or cheerleader theme. Im not big on making a big hoopla out of it. But my sister in law and best friend are helping me put it together and suggested to pick 2 games. I saw on pinterest someone did a jeopardy game and winner won the honors of revealing gender. Our friends are pretty competitive so i thought this would be fun but im afriad it would take too long. Maybe i am over thinking it.
I like the poll/friendly betting idea!!! We're telling family on Thanksgiving after dinner. We were just going to do the old cut into the cake bit and weren't planning on making it a whole thing, just dessert. DH's family are big time gamblers though and I think they'd really get into something like this. Might have to steal the idea!

We decided to do this as well and give a $20 gift card to Target. We are going to make an old wives tales board with the results of each of them, you know, for science /eyeroll
Any ideas on which ones to do? I know of the ring on a string, heart rate, and apparently peeing on things is magical. I don't really mind doing it since I'm peeing every two or three hours anyway... I'm not far along enough to do the carrying high or low one... What do you guys have for me? (Keep in mind it's for a game, and we will already know the gender at this point, so no need to get preachy )

Also, I'm all for you peeing on everything in sight, if that's how you want to entertain yourself. Just please don't ask me if turning chlorox purple means boy
There's a Chinese calendar that supposedly predicts gender. Google that because I have no idea how it works, haven't don't it myself. Also, nausea vs no nausea? (I think nausea is girl and no nausea is boy.) I don't know of any others....

I found this pic highly appropriate under these circumstances
I've only been to one gender reveal party. There weren't any games, but they asked people to either wear blue or pink, depending on your guess. I wanted to do a reveal party, but didn't have the energy to plan one. I really wanted to at least do a pink or blue cake for my parents and my in-laws, but we were too impatient and called everyone as soon as we found out, haha. I dont have anything constructive to add to the discussion, but I think the games PP have mentioned above sound like fun!

Thank you for the new photo in my repertoire. I'm sure this will come in handy.

We're having a Star Wars themed gender reveal party (I know we're nerds) haha but we don't have any games planned. We will be having a photo booth with a lightsaber and leia wig for people to pose with and we're going make pins for people to wear as well to show what they're rooting for. I'm thinking about coming up with a small prize I could give away to everyone who guesses correctly but that's as far as we're going with it. I don't want it to be too involved since we will be having a shower later and we're keeping this party to just family and a few friends. We're doing a cake reveal and literally our baker is going to be the only one who knows. I have my appointment on the 10th and the party on the 15th. I'll let everyone know how it goes!
