A rant for those with young children ...

I would like to find the asshat who thought Daylight Savings was a good idea and punch him in the balls. Or just drop my yearling off at their house for the month it takes her to transition to her new "normal" wake up time.

I feel a little spoiled for being upset about this, considering she sleeps in about three hours longer than most other toddlers we know but her sister ruined me (slept until 10am most mornings) and I am already exhausted from my 7 million pee runs every night.

Anyone else not feeling the time change this year?

Re: A rant for those with young children ...

  • Every single year I'm tempted to move several states away and live with my FIL where his town doesn't follow daylight savings. I feel ya.

  • I know most people say that having a routine is really good for kids, and most of them need one, but I am just not a routine-person by nature. I have such a hard time with it, and ours is 'more of a guideline anyway". But this is where not having a strict routine is an awesome thing! My kids slept until they were ready to wake up, which they usually do on weekends anyway, and I feed them when they are hungry.

Tomorrow is going to be the crappy day for me when we have to be ready for school at a certain time.

We are go-with-the-flow here as well. Especially when it comes to wake up times. Only thing I'm a stickler on is bedtime (8pm, no exceptions. Momma needs her alone time). My yearling just seems to know when it's 8am and wakes up on the dot at that time every morning, so at 7 she was not only awake but pissed off that no one else was.

    Fair enough!

It probably helps a lot that mine are a bit older now. DD2 set her own routine when she was really young, and now that you mention it, I seem to remember time changes being horrible when she was around that age! Hope tomorrow is better for you!

  • Ugh yes, DD was up at 4:45 am (new time) this morning. It made for a very long morning before afternoon nap. Bring on all the coffee...
  • Perk of living on this terrible island.. No daylight savings!
  • We used to live in AZ and loved not having daylightsavings time. Even though it has been almost 6 years since we moved from there, I still think it is asinine. I have been dealing with a very tired three year old all day.
  • No DTS the one thing I miss about Hawaii.
  • Same here! DS was up at 430 this am. It has been a very crabby day in our household. However now it is 645pm and DS is sound asleep. I have a feeling I'm heading for bed too.
  • Ftm but amen to the DST rants! I annoy everyone with the "Well it's 5:00 but really 6:00" thing. It's so darn hard to adjust and I'm an adult lol.
  • It's meltdown city in our house right now :-w
They are ready for bed (because yesterday at this time it WAS bedtime) and I'm ready to check in to a mental institution. Pregnancy hormones plus two toddlers who are all jacked up time wise equals mommy wants a cocktail ...
  • DD didn't nap yesterday then went to bed late after Halloween festivities. Ended up working out well because she slept in later than we did. I'll have to keep that in mind and try to do the same thing next year.

No. 430 is not any better :(

*fat pregnant finger hit the wrong emoji so it looked like I was questioning my response
  • I don't have children yet, but our dogs are annoying with daylight savings! Especially now that it's light out earlier in the morning. So they wake us up an hour before they usually do thinking it's time to eat and go out. If it's this frustrating with dogs, I can only imagine what it's like with a tiny human!!
  • Up again early this am. At least it was 20 mins more than yesterday. Still exhausted.
  • We were up even earlier today! I tried snuggling but he just kept poking my SO in the head and doing weird things to his hands lol
