THOUGHTS/EXPERIENCE SHARING NEEDED-Meds/Clomid -Polyp Removal Surgery

I know a lot of you have been through this. Started today so have to take the month off of TTC next month and Have the surgery to remove only polyp laprascropically. (sp?) The RE called and said they wanted me to take birth control before the surgery. I thought about this and quite frankly just got freaked out by the whole thing, just really seems like the opposite of what we are trying so hard to do. (I realize I am probably being crazy and emotional but I still feel that way) so I called the nurse back and she talked to the RE and said they do it 1-to make sure you aren't pregnant at time of surgery and 2-to thin the uterine lining to make the surgery easier both on the surgeon and the patient. RE Said I could take MEDROXYPROGESTERONE which will thin the lining but doesn't contain the stuff from the birth control Or that he would do it without the meds (with a she's kind of crazy tone) but said he wouldn't care.

DH went to pick up med for me today as I simply didn't have the heart today....but now 1) Im not even sure when I should take it and RE closed 2)Its got a lot of side effects and is used as HRT in women after menopause. I haven't done an HRT yet, and am not sure whether I should take it or not or just do it with no drugs if it just makes it harder on me but may make December TTC better.

Lost and Clueless with this and appreciate your thoughts/exerpiences...

Also how bad is the surgery? anything I should/shouldnt expect?

Your doc has your best interest in mind. Trust them. Anyone going through IVF has had to take birth control at least once. I had to take it each month we had an implant. It's to ensure that you ovulate when they want you to.

Also, w are you in your cycle?? If I didn't do mine before CD 10, he wanted BC too. Think about it like this. If you do it CD 20 with no BC' what if you had ovulated and had a ball of fertilized cells floating around there. Obviously, you wouldn't want that, right?. They did a pregnancy test on me while waiting on pre-op to make sure.

I had to do the laparoscopy in late August to remove some fibroids and a hysteroscopy before that. Both times my doctor had me take medroxyprogesterone to help thin the lining. Every surgery is different, but it's common to wait one more cycle after surgery before TTC to make sure you're healing well.

Believe me, I (and all of us here!) understand the frustration of having to wait, but especially when it comes to surgery you have to trust your doctor.
