Painful BH and no dilation

I have been having painful BH for weeks. I usually drink water, change position, etc and they stop after a couple of hours. Last night they kept on every 15 minutes for 7 hours. I went to L&D just as a precaution and have no dilation and they didn't do anything to stop them. It's supposed to be good to have these. I just thought 7 hours seemed a little much and didnt want the LO to break my water. I'm only 36 weeks. Would like him in at least until 38 weeks. Anyone have BH that last this long??

Re: Painful BH and no dilation

  • I have had 6 episodes of PTL from 30-34 weeks. I'm now 35w2d and have BH nearly constantly. Having the real contractions taught me what the difference is. BH are uncomfortable for sure but it's smart of you to go get checked out just in case.
After 34 weeks my OB said he wouldn't stop the real contractions because I'm high risk anyway and can't go past 38w.
I've had them last for hours, usually at night. I usually get up and sit on my birthing ball and sway back and forth or walk around a bit to distract myself. You're almost to the end so hopefully your little one stays put for at least a few more weeks.
You're definitely not alone in this. Wouldn't it be nice to be one of the women who didn't really feel them though?! :-w
