First time starting one!

Month/cycle: soon 6/6

Waydtgku? : temping, cm, cp, sex

Rant/rave/chart stalk: period is out the door as of yesterday! Only 48 hours or less for the second time in a row. Not sure if this is a sign of concern but will continue to monitor. Not complaining, just seems insanely light. Gonna resume temping again tomorrow.

Also just completed a 5k obstacle course race this morning! So happy I was able to run the whole thing! (Have ran a 5k before but never fully through an obstacle course!)

What is your favorite new show this season? (As in premiere season. Looking for some new shoes! )

I'm really into quantico and liking limitless. Blood and oil is also a potential

Ps. Forgot to add a quick question that I haven't seen addressed. I got sunburnt today during my race. Nothing crazy bad but will this change/effect my temps?

Rant/rave/chart stalk: I really thought going into this I would have a normal 28-29 day cycle immediately coming off BCP. I don't know why we always assume we are the exception... probably because my sis got pregnant first month off IUD.... *sigh*. Already assuming this isn't my month. I'd love to see some fertile CM at some point though, to give me hope. And a positive OPK would be nice too.

What is your favorite new show this season? I don't have cable, only netflix and internet streaming. I watch shows in true binge fashion, commercial free! I have no idea what comes out and when.

ETA: even though my chart is full of zig-zags there is still a general downward direction

that's a good sign I suppose.

@sarah0985 Congrats on the 5K! I'm not sure if sunburn will affect your temps. It does sound like a possibility though. Great question, I will be looking to see if you get a definite answer!

@PrettyPalomino I would say you have not O'd yet and not to be a debbie downer, but it it is possible you won't this cycle, as your body gets used to what is supposed to do without the BCP hormones. It has been 7 or more years since I went off the pill, but i remember having a few long cycles right after that had me worried I was pregnant. (I was in college and definitely not trying...but knew the pill was not for me, made me so tired) This was before I knew ANYTHING about how getting pregnant works.... However... it is possible you could still O, as it is not uncommon to O anywhere from 14-20+ CD. I tend to O on CD 20-22 and have 30-35 day cycles. Hang in there, keep up the temping and BDing. FX you O this cycle!

@sarah0985 Blood & Oil has essentially been canceled. They originally had a 13-episode season ordered, but it was just cut to ten and then production will stop. Signs point to no more after that. I was hoping it would be good. I taped them all but then deleted before watching once I heard that news.

I've recorded Quantico, Limitless, Scream Queens, and possibly another, but haven't started any of them. I've been struggling to keep up on of shows and have been binge watching Shameless with DH since he's never seen it. I've heard that Quantico and Limitless have gotten great reviews from TV critics.

@Megz1902 thanks. Some quick google points to no but limited responses. Wondering what some of the women on here have seen especially with summer having just passed. Maybe some people had some experience with it.
@PrettyPalomino don't get too down on yourself or drive yourself crazy. Can take time. That said, I knew that my first cycle and still drove myself and my husband crazy.

You're in the Loop. It's not very residential so there aren't a ton of bar options. This actually works in your favor as I would not expect many places near you to have costume parties/traditional Halloween celebrators. Stay away from the River North area (other side of the river from you) as that is very clubby with many trendy bars. I imagine everyone will be in costumes there. I would just go on Yelp and see what's near you. Perhaps a hotel bar? The Radisson Blu (Aqua building) is near you and probably has a great bar. You can also go to the bar at a restaurant nearby. Streeterville (the area around the Hancock building/Water Tower Place/great shopping on Michigan Ave) would be a great spot for both hotel and restaurant bars.

If you pull up Goggle maps, they'll have the neighborhoods labeled for you. I'm happy to help more if I can. Take a look at the options on Yelp or describe the type of restaurant/bar you're looking for and I'll see if I have any suggestions.

ETA: Stay away from Wrigleyville (in the Lakeview neighborhood). It will be a mess filled with drunk, costumed college students (and people in their low to mid-20s).

Rants/raves/chart stalk: Is it OK to start temping any day? Where can I find reliable info on how to temp without asking you ladies a million questions. Also, if I started using opks on CD 11 that should cover me if I have a 28 day cycle or if it lingers out to 30 right? Ooohh! While I've got you guys here one more, anyone try any of the ttc friendly lubes and which brand do you favor?

Have you read the newbie guide to TTGP at the top of the board? There's a lot of great info there. Please read Taking Charge of Your Fertility by Toni W. This book is the bible when it comes to charting.

A new edition came out in July and is available as an ebook, but I recommend getting the real book as it's more of a reference guide you'll want to look at again and again. You can find it at the library or you can get used copies of the older edition on Amazon for a few bucks.

What kind of OPKs are you going to use?

@sarah0985 - I would definitely make note of it in the "notes" section. I've gotten very bad sunburns where I definitely felt warmer the next day (this was pre-charting) and had to take ibuprofen to decrease the inflammation.

@autumnrae07 - Great answer above but you can start charting at any time. Many ladies skip temping during their period or during the TWW, but I like to keep it up out of habit. I would definitely suggest doing it for a few months straight until you get the hang of it, then you can cut out non-fertile times as you see fit.

@megz1902 - I would expect a temp spike tomorrow with all those signs! HIO either way and good luck!

@sboston06 that's what I'm thinking. And according to a thread I read on here last week from a newbie, inflammation raises your temp. Just not sure how much or what. I'll make a note in my chart. At least it's early in my cycle. I have a fan on me though and my air on and I'm still warm. I did read it may be just "on the surface" though. Will see what happens tomorrow

Thanks for these suggestions. We don't have cable and Netflix and Hulu aren't available where I live unless you have a VPN. I'm never sure then of new shows since j don't see commercials or anything. Going to look into these suggestions!

***Temping question/rant ahead

Rant/rave/chart stalk: I'm lost on what to do about temping tonight. DH and I are headed to a Halloween party so will likely be home well past midnight and I usually temp at 3:30am. Add to that the time change and I'm lost. So do you guys think I should come home and sleep for 3 hours before temping or take my temp at my normal 3:30 time (which would be 2:30 tonight) or take it at 3:30 which would be 4:30. The only reason I'm super concerned is because of my CD and if I'm typical (LOLz) I should probably O somewhere around now. The only thing working in my favor tonight is I'm the DD so at least alcohol won't be impacting the temp.

What is your favorite new show this season?We don't have cable, so I just binge watch Netflix

@megstervt I don't have much experience with temping but last month I had a similar situation. Was out till about 12:30 and didn't get to sleep till 1. Still temped at 3 and my temp was half a degree above any of the surrounding temps. In hind sight, I would have temped about 4:30. I'd August your time to maybe 3.5 hours after you're sleep time and make a note in your chart

@megstervt Aim for minimum three hours of sleep. Since you temp so early, I doubt you'll see a significant difference by waiting a couple hours later than normal. For me, I normally temp at 7 so if I temp at 8, I see a difference since my body's automatic functions are starting to waken before 8am.

If you take it after sleeping less than three hours, your BBT is going to be much higher than usual.

@mom2adoodle the month after my CP, I had the positive OPK, all the signs and then nothing, was sure it was gonna be anovulary cycle but I kept checking OPK. CM became dry, and then 1 week later positive OPK again and fertile CM was back and then I ovulated and had my temp rise. Maybe it's what is happening. My OB warned me body can be messed up after CP
