High-Risk Pregnancy

anterior accessory lobe

I have a posterior placenta with partial previa. I found out today that I have a anterior accessory lobe. Anyone know anything about this? Us tech didn't seem concerned. I made the mistake of googling it. Now I'm getting a bit worried.

Re: anterior accessory lobe

  • Well, Im gonna take it that no one knows anything about this. I did call my doc and he is not concerned though. Apparently it is an extra small placenta. So I have 2 of them. I have never heard of this before. And it's only potential hazard is during birth. So thx anyway peeps.

  • Just saw this. Please have them check the location of the cord and the cord's insertion. Accessory lobes (aka succenturiate placenta) and placenta previa are risk factors for vasa previa. I've only learned this because I have all three of those conditions and hadn't heard of vasa previa until my anatomy scan, where it was diagnosed.

Just know that if you google vasa previa (I wouldn't - but I didn't follow my own advice), it's pretty scary but 100% manageable when diagnosed.

Best of luck with your pregnancy. Here's to a healthy and happy 9 months!
