Almost fell

Last night I was cleaning up after our church's Wednesday night program and slipped on the floor in the kitchen.  Luckily I was able to catch myself on something and not fall completely.   Today, my lower back is really sore.  UGG!!  Should I be concerned or just rest and wait it out?

Re: Almost fell

  • I would just rest and wait it out, especially since you didn't land on your stomach. Hopefully you didn't strain any back muscles though!

  • I did something similar probably around 16 weeks? I was walking up a flight of stairs and tripped, caught my fall with my hands. Baby is doing just fine though so as long as you feel alright I would wait it out. Babies can take a lot more than you'd think in the womb.

  • Just rest, if it's just your back I'm sure you pulled a muscle.

As long as you don't have any spotting or changes in discharge then just rest.

If you're really worried call your doctor since we can give opinions here but not actual medical advice for your exact situation.

Your back being sore probably would have happened even if you weren't pregnant. There's absolutely nothing to be concerned about unless you start spotting. Your fetus is surrounded by uterus and amniotic fluid, it would take a very hard hit directly to damage baby.

  • I fell a couple weeks ago but I just landed on my knees. I was really freaking out at first but after a little bit I still felt baby girl moving around and I knew I didn't hit my stomach, I was able to calm down. Everything turned out ok except for the rug burn on my knee.
