How much formula?

Is your little one eating, how often and how old are they? Just trying to compare. I just started doing mainly formula and started keeping track of her feedings. Thanks so much ladies!!

Re: How much formula?

  • My little girl is 3 weeks tomorrow. She has been exclusively formula fed. We feed on demand but it works out to about 3-4 oz every two and a half to three hours.

  • Okay. Thanks so much!! My daughter will be 4 weeks tomorrow and has 4oz about every 3-4 hours. And a serious question.. what other way to feed is there besides feed on demand?

At first we fed every 3 hours, now it's on demand but he typically goes every 3 during the day and 4 to 3 at night.
He's 5 weeks tomorrow and eats from 3 to 5 oz.
  • My LO is eating 2-4/5oz every two hours or so. And if he is cluster feeding due to agree that spurt he sometimes eats 1-2 oz every hour, and during the night he eats on demand. He usually wakes up every 2 hours.
  • 1 month today he eats most 3 oz bottles. I do a 2 oz at the 3am feeding and a 4oz at 10pm. We do the two oz so he doesn't spit up as much overnight and we can all go back to sleep. Our ped said he should eat in oz his body weightx2.5 for the whole day. So if he weighs 9lbsx2.5 then he should eat 22.5 ounces a day
  • Baby is 1 month and he eats 4 oz every 3 hours with a 4-5 hr stretch at night. He's current 13.5 pounds.
  • Little man is 6 days old and eats 2-3 oz. more often in the day than the night. I've been wondering the same thing.
  • 3 weeks and about 3oz every 3 hours or so
  • Thanks ladies! I want sure if I was offering her too much or too little. :)

LO is 3.5 weeks and generally takes about 2-3 oz every 2-3 hours. Sometimes a little more, sometimes less, sometimes not quite on that schedule. I feed her on demand but try not to let her go more than 4 hours during the day without at least offering her a bottle. The rule of thumb I've seen is 2.5 oz per pound of body weight (so if you're feeding that much in 24 hours you're probably fine) but always ask your pediatrician too - just in case your baby has a specific need. :)
  • My daughter will be 4 weeks this week. She is breast fed and supplemented with formula when needed. She eats every 3 hours and today had 4 ounces of formula. Rest is breast milk.
