I had been planning on shopping mostly at Buy Buy Baby (since they have 20% coupons) but received $$ to Babies R Us from coworkers and wanted to see what would be best to buy there?
I like Buy Buy Baby but I have noticed their prices are generally marked up on just about everything. So the 20% off coupons are just bringing the price a little lower than what the same item would be at like Target. Idk what would be best to buy at Babies R Us, I would just watch for sales.
Changing of seasons clothing sales at babies r us. You can get a ton of clothes for the next year. Also when a new product comes out or new style of product the other is on sale for a good price. We got our swing just as the newest one came out. The old one was just as good and saved a lot that way. I agree with @brianna91chavez buy buy baby marks everything up. A lot of same products can be found at target f or same price as 20% off sometimes less.
Well part of that depends on what you still need to purchase. I will say we got a few of their koala brand clothes and they all shrunk really bad. I have one 3month sleeper that is only and inch or 2 longer than his newborn onesie. So I would say avoid those.
I had a terrible experience with BabiesRUs on a couple of things. We purchased a faulty crib and were given a hard time by customer service when we wanted to exchange it. We also ordered our diaper bag and it arrived with a big marker or highlighter stain on it. We still shop at the store, but maybe stick to in-store products and definitely not furniture!
We chose to have our main registry at Buy Buy Baby because it offered most of the big things we wanted. We only advertised for our baby shower that we were registered there, so we could easily return things. BBB's return policy for items on the registry is for one year.
However, we also registered everywhere else, so we could take advantage of the better registry completion discounts for the stuff that we will have to pay for out of pocket. We also registered at BRU, Target, Amazon, and PBK. For example, Target's registry completion discount is 15%, where BBB is only 10%. I have heard, however, that if you show the Target completion discount (or any of the big box competition) in-store at BBB, they will match it.
We registered at both, and picked specific items at each store depending on the price. Personally, I like BuyBuyBaby better because of the layout and the coupons. When we bought the furniture, we actually forgot to bring our coupons. The cashier told us to bring them back with the receipt and she credited the discount back to us at that time.
I have both in my neighborhood and have shopped at both. The 20 coupons are good at BBB but you can only use them on one item. They have different products at both stores and I used my baby bargain book as a guide for purchases and brand quality rather than the store. We ended up buying very little at either baby store. I do have to say though BRU has a huge supply of breast pump supplies in store which is rad if you are breastfeeding!
I bought all of my big items, swing, bouncy chair, baby bath wtc off kijiji for awesome prices on items used only for a couple months. I wouldn't pay the piper for any of those items new. I got a great crib, car seat and stroller from Baby's r us and had great service and product seems great quaIity. haven't bought any clothes there mainly cause there pretty uninteresting and super gender specific for the most part. Also price wise, I have bought so many clothes from used children's clothing stores for literally pennies!
We shop at both. You can use buy buy baby and bed bath and beyond coupons at babies r us. At babies r us, you can sign up for their rewards...wish buy buy baby had that too.
Our nearest BBB is 45 min away in a different state, so we went with BRU. Their return policy on registry items is good, and it's been easy to exchange things if we need to. Plus, one of my coworkers has a weekend job at BRU, so everyone at work pitched in for my shower and she bought a bunch of stuff of my registry with her discount. I've not had any issues with their products, (although getting help to special order in the store can be a long process) and the glider we ordered had no issues. If you sign up for their rewards, it's 10% off on Thursdays (and Saturdays for the holiday season). They also don't limit their coupons as much as BBB does for big ticket items. The 20% off at BBB aren't good for a lot of the premium brands like 4moms. And the registry bonus is nice, too. You get back a percentage of what's bought by you or others off your registry in gift cards about 10 weeks after your due date.
If you have both, shop around and see what's the best price, especially for big ticket stuff. Both have online stores so you can price check before you go.
We shopped and registered at both and there's a lot of overlap in the products at BBB and BRU, so I don't think it matters much. In our area BBB does carry some more upscale items (strollers over $400 for instance) that aren't at BRU and their selection is a little broader since half of our BRU is really a Toys R Us. But if you're looking for any cheap or midpriced products in common brands (Carters, Fisher Price, etc), BRU is just as good as BBB--they generally have the same brands.
Also note: both stores will price match anything. So if it's cheaper at a different store (like Target, Walmart, or even Amazon) just pull up the info on your phone and they'll change the price accordingly. We saved $20 on a high chair that way at BRU. In that sense, it really doesn't matter where you shop.
A LOT of the items at BBB are marked up so that the 20% off coupon just brings them to the same price that item is at other stores. Our stroller for instance was marked $480 while it was $384 on Amazon and Target. The coupon brought it exactly to $384, so I'm pretty sure it was intentionally marked up. Unfortunately the price match can't be combined with the coupon either. So I'd save the coupons for items that are already the same price at BBB and other stores.
"Baby Bargains" is on Amazon,,was worth every penny for this clueless FTM. I did at least half of my shopping and registering straight from suggestions from that book. They list each type of product you need (crib, clothing, breast pump , etc), review and grade them. Much better than researching every single thing myself.
Just got a shipment from babies r us yesterday that had an item missing. I called & they said it should arrive soon. Today what I thought was my shipment turned out to be 3 super pink, super girly 24months outfits from Carters . When I ordered a pack of blue pacifiers. I called again, told them I got the wrong items and they said my pacifiers should arrive soon (they said nothing on what to do with the outfits) but now I have these outfits and idk what to do with them! My baby is a boy so I can't even save them. should I just exchange them? Idk.
