Just had my 32 week ultra sound and my baby boy is 4 lbs 14 oz!!! They might as well said 5 lbs. i dont have gestational diabeties but holy crap! Hes going to be between 8.5-9 lbs the doctor said. Anyone else having a big baby?
Mine said 5lbs4oz. My doctor will do another growth scan at 38 weeks because the baby has a big head, like his dad, and they are worried about delivery.
Don't stress out too much. My best friend was told she was having an 8.5lb baby her entire pregnancy ... she ended up four days late and baby was 6lbs 7oz. There's hope!
I think the size of my baby is one of the biggest things that's stressing me out as it gets closer. Every time I ask how big they think baby is measuring they say "oh he's measuring normal". I still have a few weeks before they do my ultrasound. Not knowing how big he will be and knowing there can be a discrepancy in the ultrasound when they estimate weight freaks me out. I am just trying my best not to think about it. Lol
I haven't had a scan since 20 weeks so I have no idea the size of the baby, but your turkey comment made me laugh. I keep joking that it looks like I am trying to shoplift a frozen turkey under my shirt!
I also just had an ultrasound at 31 weeks that put baby at 4lbs, but like another poster said at this point they are notorious for being off +/- 2lbs so I'm taking that as an estimate and not going to worry! If the past is any reference I will have a healthy 7-8lb baby again.. We will see in the next 8 weeks or so!
I can't tell you how many stories I've seen on here of women who were told the baby was 9+ lb (and needed a c section) and ended up with a 7lb baby. Take the u/s weight with a grain a salt. My baby weighed in at 5lb at 33+4 and was told it was very average.
**In general** unless you have a medical condition like GD your body just does not let baby get so big that you cannot naturally deliver him/her (if that wasn't the case, everyone would be born via c-section!). Though trust me when I looked up the largest baby ever to be delivered vaginally and saw it was close to the 20lb mark I just got up and walked away from my computer screen. Nope nope nope.
My baby is on the big side right now too! With ds I had an u/s at 39 weeks and they estimated him at 10 lbs. It was a few ounces off but still a big guy!
I wouldn't worry about a big baby. Assuming you don't have GD, and baby otherwise looks healthy and proportionate on the ultrasound a bigger baby can have advantages. With a little extra body fat they are able to regulate their temperature better after being born, and as babies typically loose a little weight after birth you have less to worry about on that front.
I had an 8 1/2 pound baby delivered w/out pain meds last time around. Some natural tearing occurred, it really wasn't a tough labor though. This one looks right on track to be about the same size. I'm totally ok with natural tearing, and the doctors at my hospital generally don't do episiotomy or use suction.
I had my 31 wk ultrasound yesterday and was told my guy is 3.9lbs. I thought that was huge but after reading about your small turkey, I had to laugh! We will all be holding our small turkeys very soon!
33 weeks and bubs is measuring at 2.7kgs or approx 6lbs. I'm freaking out! Docs have advised to reduce carbs and sugar despite all of my tests, bp,urine, etc...being completely normal! They want to see if diet affects bub's growth. I just think he is a big boy and I'm a little terrified!
