2nd Trimester

23 weeks not showing and no movement

Im 23 weeks tomorrow im 211 pounds and diabetic. I had a lower pouch before pregnant and im overweight so im not showing just look fat. I havent felt ny movement i work, wake up from 5am and im home till 6pm then cook shower etc and wont lay down till like 9pm and even then i dont feel movement. I've had ultrasounds and baby does move and i hear the heart beat often at the drs office and at home since i have a fetal doppler.

Im very frustrated and worried, everyone keeps asking me if ive felt movement and i havent is this normal has anyone gone through this? Im having a boy and las ultrasound was oct 14 i asked the ultrasound tech and she said i should start feeling it by now thats the only answer she gave me

Re: 23 weeks not showing and no movement

  • I've felt like a pulse in my belly , like something pushing but its for a sec and goes away is that baby?

  • If you're hearing the heartbeat then I wouldn't worry too much. As far as movement, it took me until 22-23 weeks to really feel something. I'm always up and about, so I think I missed a lot of the early movements. What you described sounds like baby to me. I'd talk to your doc at your next appointment. Hearing it from them will ease your mind.
  • They say the more you move, the less you feel the baby since it is being rocked to sleep when you walk around.  Also people start to feel movement at different times, as early as 13 weeks and as late as 26 weeks.  You probably are starting to feel it.  It begins to feel like a fluttering sensation.  I'm sure in a few more weeks you will definately be able to distinguish the baby movements.
  • Do you know where your placenta is? Mine is anterior and it is common to feel movement much later due to the placenta cushioning alot of the earlier movement. I only felt the baby for the first time yesterday when i was resting and it was more like a poke instead of a flutter. I asked my midwife today and she said i am probably only going to feel quite strong, infrequent movements at this time. I would have missed yesterdays too if i hadnt been resting at that moment.
  • I think it is a bit harder to feel baby if you have a bit more of a tummy or are overweight. I'm almost 28 weeks and have just started to feel consistent movement and I have an average body size. Baby is much more active when I am still and/or laying down. The first signs of movement are pretty weird and deceiving, they may feel like gas or little flutters or bubbles moving around. You could always get a Doppler to check for heartbeat if it will help settle your mind. Good luck.
  • I didn't feel the baby start moving until about 23 weeks. Even then I only felt him when I laid down for the night. I have a lower belly pooch too, and when he's laying low I can barely feel him move.
  • I didn't start feeling consistent movements until this week. The past few weeks it took a lot for me to feel them. But now they are getting a little stronger so it's okay if they are not consistent yet.

  • i had an appointment last Wednesday and i Dr just told me it was still early to feel movement. i get so frustrated because theres another girl pregnant at work shes like 50 pounds bigger than me and shes 3 weeks behind and she says she feels alot of movement at night i feel so down she just told me that right now...

HOWEVER this passed days i kept feeling that pushing feeling more and more, like nudges like something pushing for a sec and then goes away then a min later i feel it  again... i felt this during  is that my baby? cuz that's all ive felt :( i worry too much cuz of the miscarriage i had 3 years ago

dr always says its too early, frustrates me so much, and i kept feeling that nudge, pushing feeling way more the passed days, during the day and night... is that my baby?

I've only felt lie nudges, like a push amd its been very constant for the passed days

I have a doppler and i always hear babys heart beat is just that i havent felt him move or i dont know how it should feel and i havent felt flutters only like nudge pushing feeling

I am 24 weeks this week. They say it feels like flutters or a bubbly feeling which to me, is what it feel likes. I can tell if it is a punch or nudge now but it has that bubbly feeling until she gets bigger then I think it will be more obvious. I don't think you feel them really consistently until closer to 28 weeks. Like others have said if you are moving a lot you won't notice or recognize it as easily. From 18-22 weeks I had to really sit and wait to feel a movement. Also at the beginning it won't happen all the time, everyone is different but before I hit 23 weeks, I would go a day or two without noticing anything and also I couldn't really tell if that was her or not when I first started feeling flutters.

I would not get worried and if the movements are not consistent yet, it's okay. As long as everything looks good from your doctor, then that's all you need to hear. I feel like each week the LO's get stronger with kicks, hang in there. You will notice the change in how it feels. I went from not feeling much and then all of sudden last week at 23 weeks, I really started to recognize the nudges, kicks, etc.

So those nudges and pushes i feel are my baby moving? Yesterday i was sitting watching tv and i felt a big nudge it felt as if something moved me but the movement was from my belly
  • If you're feeling a nudge from inside your belly, why would you not think it is the baby??

It's my first pregnancy too and I immediately knew when it was baby as opposed to my pulse or gas or anything else. It's a sensation I've never felt before and I know it's baby. I've never heard of the placenta nudging someone. I do believe when you feel the baby you'll know it's baby. For me, even as a FTM, it is unmistakable . Maybe you're just not feeling it yet.

Yep, that is your LO moving around. I always notice it the most when I'm relaxed and watching tv.
