Lower back pain?

Early early this morning I started having contractions.  We timed them and they were too far apart and then stopped.  My DH and I concluded it was false labor.  The baby has been kicking today like normal.  I've also been laying on the couch from a cold.  My hips and lower back are really sore.  Should I only be really concerned if I start having contractions as well?  Sorry FTM and a little clueless.

Re: Lower back pain?

  • If the pain comes in waves it could be back labor. Otherwise I'd say a heating pad is your friend. :D

  • Hmm its been a constant pain.  Must be sore.  Heating pad it is! Thanks!!

  • I had back labor pains with my first, and those happened before the regular contractions. It's definitely something to keep an eye on, but doesn't necessarily mean labor yet. Oh, and the back pain was a little higher up towards the middle of my back, not on my hips where it usually was.
  • Could be a UTI
  • These are questions best referred to your health care professional. It could be a lot of things.
If there's something strange underneath the hood.  Who you gonna call?  Your Doctor.  If there's something weird and it don't look good.  Who you gonna call?  Your Doctor.  Immediately.  If it's new, painful, and possibly pregnancy related get your ass off the internet and call your doctor.  It's for your health and your child's.

  • If I sit/lay down for too long my back will get sore. Moving around, take a walk, try the heating pad. Otherwise, call your doctor since you experienced contractions.
