June 2016 Moms

Pregnant again after 18 years

I was a teen mom when my first was born. A was 17 when my son was born. His father and I didn't stay together and I became a single mom. At that moment I vowed not to have another child until I was married. I put my son first and it took me almost 11 years to meet my husband. And even then I made him wait 5 years to get married. Now we have been married 2 1/2 years. People think I'm crazy for wanting another baby since my first just graduated high school and went off to college. But I'm still young (35) and have waited along time to get pregnant. And even though this isn't my first, its been so long that I have forgotten everything and it feels like my first. I feel like I am going to miss something. I have downloaded both this app and the what to accpect app. I have found an ob doctor already. But I feel like there are more resources im just not finding. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • Congrats and welcome!  I was pregnant 2 years ago and still forget everything :-)  I am glad you found us!

When is your first OB appointment?  You'll find a lot of great advice here, but for medical related advice, I would take the word of your OB.  The What to Expect When Your Expecting book is a good one too!

  • Congratulations! I second the What to Expect When You're Expecting book. I like being able to read the one chapter for each month and I feel like I get all the most important information without having to sift through the world of the Internet.

I also had my first at 16. I'm 36, he's 20. My middle son is 16 and my youngest is 14. I know how you feel! Yes, I am starting all over again but I'm so excited about it!!! It is almost like having your first after all this time. You don't realize how much u actually forget! LOL Anyways, congrats!!!!!!!!!! ;)
  • Congratulations and welcome!
This must be a whole new and exciting experience for you!!
It probably feels like you're a first time mom again - but now you have your son and your husband here to support you too, which is amazing!

There's been plenty of rules and regulations that have changed since last time, but it's pretty straight forward :) I'm guessing you don't have a lot of baby stuff laying around anymore any way ;)

I wish you the best of luck and a happy and healthy 9 months!

  • Welcome! I am a FTM but I have a baby sister 15 years younger than me. I think it's cool to have a big age difference, I feel like her second mom. I bet your son will have a nice relationship with the LO, like I do with my sister-she is 15 now!

  • Welcome & congrats! The age gap between my eldest sibling & my youngest sibling is 18 years, and now as adults we are all super close! Growing up the little one definitely felt like she had multiple "moms" telling her what to do but she was such a great addition to our family! Best of luck to you!
