Talk of inducing before due date

Hello all, I am a ftm and due in 9 days, on November 6th. We have had an up and down experience with this pregnancy. His kidneys have been fluctuating up and down for the last month and a half. Just on monday I had another ultrasound and the plan is changed again. I can still give birth at my hospital but the periantolagist said she would not recommend going past my due date and is in talks with my ob to schedule an induction early. Everything else is ok with him and he is estimated to be 8 lbs 5 ounces now. He has nor fully dropped and I am not sure of the process of inducing ealry. Any tips or encouragement would be appreciated.

    I would trust that induction would be the right route with your LO's kidneys in question. 
    I'm not going to sugar coat it, induction can be scary and down right painful at times, but it's not the same for everyone. Sometimes you can end up with a c-section but remember the doctor's end goal is to have a healthy momma and a healthy baby. 
    It can be a long process, I would be sure to pack things to do/listen to/watch. I know it's cliche but you'll want to rest as much as physically possible.

    As BWB said, just keep in mind early induction can sometimes lead to a CS if you do not progress at all. I was induced as a FTM at 5:30 PM and had DS at 1:45 PM the next day. I've only had one child, so I can't compare, but at least for me, the contractions were painful. My epidural wore off and wouldn't retake, so I'm not the best example. The main thing that stinks about induction is that you are pretty much trapped in bed (at least for me) because you have to be monitored. 

    That monitoring can also be a good thing, though, because your doc/nurses can quickly identify any issues. It's not the most fun experience, but for the health of your baby and yourself, it is worth it. Good luck.

    If your specialist is concerned enough to suggest a c section, then I would trust them. Not to mention your induction is not really all that early, you will be 39 weeks. If your LO may have possible kidney issues I would think that risks to kidneys would likely be worse than the risk of inducing a few days early.

    I had to be induced a few weeks ago due to low fluids. I was disappointed because I had a certain vision of what this birth was going to be like compared to my first but I trust my doctor and he absolutely made the right call.

    It was a long process for me. We started at 4:30 pm on a Monday and she wasn't born until 2:20 am on Thursday. Not all inductions take that long but be prepared that yours might.

    Both my daughters were induced and I was able to deliver both vaginally without anyone even mentioning a c-section.

    I was given Cervidil and "the gel" both times. This time I also had to have pitocin and that was crazy painful (I was yelling for an epidural within 20 minutes of starting that). So if you can progress without pitocin and can avoid it then that would be awesome! Good luck!

    I had pitocin and went in at 7:00am delivered at 4:44pm. Did not need an epidural. Good luck, mom.
