cabin fever

Hello all. I gave birth on the 9th and have been loving my one on one time with my LO but I am getting a little cooped up feeling. I had a csection and am still recovering. Any ideas for relieving cabin fever? Fun things to do with my 2 week old?

Re: cabin fever

  • See if you can meet a friend for an early lunch somewhere? Maybe they can carry baby in if you have to be careful about lifting still. :)

  • I don't know if it's an option for you but a lot of our family lives in the same town as us, so we've been visiting them as much as possible (free meals are always plus to leaving the house). It gives them time to see the baby and us a chance to get out of the house for a couple of hours. I've found the more I move around the better I feel after my c-section.
  • Well evidently I'm some kind of recluse. I have walked out the door to my house exactly once since having my baby on the 18th and it was to take her to her doctor appointment. I normally spend most days driving my kids around and I'm loving the excuse to stay home.
  • Visitors. Invite people over! Have someone come stay a few nights. Start a new Netflix series and binge watch (Im watching Suits) During labor I did some type of damage and my right knee gives out so Im affraid to leave the house alone carrying the baby and driving. Im such an independent person and love getting out and about but I just can't. I also had my LO on the 9th too so I feel we can relate with time spent indoors lately.

Im also asking for help. When my MIL comes over I hand her the baby and hobble around the house to clean and shower and keep her distracted till Im ready for her to leave.
  • Do you have a stroller? Go for a walk if it's still nice weather in your part of the world
  • We've had visitors in the evening and been visiting my parents a couple of times. I get lonely when I'm home by myself at night when my husband works, so it's nice to have company.

I've also been binge watching netflix and yesterday we went for a drive to go to the atm and back. Just getting out for that helped make me feel a little more human...and baby likes riding.
  • I've been all over (zoo, state fair, etc.) but I started with target on a weekday when they were slow so I could use the family bathroom if I had to change her or use a dressing room to nurse her. To my surprise, she almost always naps through our outings!
