July 2016 Moms

Nervous to be a mom!

Hello all.
I'm Shana, I'm 30 and been married for 3 years. I just had a positive pregnancy test yesterday! It happened so quick (1 month) that I'm in shock! This will be my first pregnancy, and the hubby is beyond elated! His face when I showed him the test was like a kid in a candy store! I'm scared of the changes throughout pregnancy and birth, but I'm more scared that something will happen to the baby.
I've stopped taking my allergy meds, and it's a nightmare. Talking to my gyno about it today. So far the app says my due date will be July 3rd, so there could be fireworks!
Glad to be able to talk to someone about this since I have yet to tell my family!

  • Congratulations!

I think we all worry about keeping the baby safe this early on. It gets a little easier the closer you get to 2nd trimester and beyond. I always looked forward to doctors appointments to make sure all was ok.

Being nervous is so normal.  I would think that everyone on this board would agree that they're in some way, shape or form nervous.  I agree with @knitmama.  Getting through the first doctor's appoint definitely helps! For right now, we can all just be grateful for every day that we are pregnant

  • Being nervous is 100% normal.  I was a nervous mess my first pregnancy, especially in the first trimester (less so this time.. but they are still definitely there).  Nervousness just means you really care about what is happening.  It's a GOOD thing :)!!!!
I remember with DS, though, I was not nervous about the labor, but more nervous about when they send us home "You mean you're just letting me take him home and it's all up to me and DH? WHAT???" No matter what you are nervous about though, just know it's ok and, yes, that's why these boards are so great!
