Job Interview on Monday

So I am thrilled to have an interview on Monday! Some of you may remember we moved about 8 weeks ago for DH's job. I'm in academia so finding something quickly is really tough! My question: I plan to address my obvious pregnancy at the interview (in academia I doubt this is a big issue anyway) but anyone have any good advice on what to say exactly? Also, what to wear? I have some very nice black work dresses I could pair with a suit jacket, but should I just get a maternity suit?

    Well I assume you obviously look pregnant, so if they ask you for a little introduction that's something you can lead with -- and also hint at some of your better qualities that would help on the job (giving good instruction, being a good listener, hard worker, balance time well, whatever whatever). If they ask about foreseen limitations or time off, include what is necessary/expected with your pregnancy and giving birth, but affirm that once baby is born and settled that you'll devote as much time and effort to work as it takes to be successful.

    I always like the idea of a dress and blazer, but if you'll wear a suit more than once and you can afford it I don't see why that would be a bad choice.

    I second dress and blazer. I'm in the legal profession and I would feel comfortable wearing that to an interview but I'm not sure if academia is different. I don't like to catch people off guard so I'd probably send an email on Friday confirming Monday's interview and somehow throw a reference to the pregnancy in there - that's just me personally, but then it would be one less thing to worry about on Monday and both me and the interviewer could jump right into the interview without any time needed for he or she to digest the whole pregnancy thing.

    If you avoid the pregnancy the whole time it's going to be awkward, but don't dwell on it either. Dress/skirt and blazer make me feel more confident and I'd go that route, and focus on your qualifications.

    The interviewer probably won't ask much about your pregnancy because it's illegal not to hire you based on it and asking a lot of questions about it would give you fuel for a lawsuit. For that reason, I would be sure to address anything you think they might be concerned about that you can answer favorably. For example, if you plan to come back to work especially quickly after your baby is born, and you already have good childcare lined up, mention that briefly.
