1ST TRI CHECK-IN 10/19

12 weeks tomorrow, and NT scan on Friday! So this week is pretty exciting. Still tired, nausea under control with Dicletin...hoping to stop soon, but too busy this week to risk being out of commission for an entire day.

We've already made our announcement, as we feared some of the closer people who knew would open their mouth (remember my overexcited FIL?). Here's the picture we used (we had the pj embroidered, and the booties were knit by my grandma who gave them to us years ago, in case she was no longer there by the time we had kids...thankfully we're celebrating her 83rd birthday this weekend). Our friends and family were well aware of our struggles, and the response from everyone was just amazing.

@KidShrink ur announcement photo is super cute. I love the onesie.
So my last week was interesting. I was spotting for a few days. It turns out my blood thinners my RE had put me on made my blood too thin. Every irritation my cervix had made me bleed, where if a normal person had a spot of blood mine was a teaspoon. I was bleeding mostly because of my constipation and when I threw up. Anyways I am off my blood thinners now and my spotting stopped. So I am happy again.
My next ultrasound is in one week. I can't wait. In the meantime I purchased an at home fetal Doppler to listen to the babies heartbeat. I have only tried it once because I am sceptacle about the safety of using it. I know everything I have read says it's ok but what do you girls think?
QOTW: we have told our family n friends but I thing we will announce it to the world when we find out the genders of the babies. And Im thinking we will do some kind of cute picture in our holiday card announcing it.

@MelenaZ I've been thinking about waiting until we know the gender before announcing to the rest of the world too.. of course, then I had the telling everyone via Christmas card and we wouldn't know the sex by then so who knows. I guess I will see what DH wants to do. I think the main thing he cares about is telling his mom though. lol She's been waiting for us to have kids since a year after we got married! I've heard of a lot of people using dopplers but have heard if you use it before 12 weeks it can be hard to find a heartbeat, so don't freak out if you have trouble finding it. How much did it cost? I've thought about getting one.

As for me, I have my first OB appointment in less than two hours so I will update after!

@melenaz I'm so sorry you had such a rough week! Bleeding would scare the crap out of me! I'm glad you are done bleeding and babies are okay. I've had friends use the Doppler and they said it gave them piece of mind.

No appointments this week. Really just trying to survive. DH has been in Germany since last Wednesday and isn't coming home until Friday. DD is in a Threenager phase and she just wants daddy. I'm exhausted and just want to sleep but must keep her entertained. Friday can't come fast enough for me!!!!

QOTW: I think I will announce on Thanksgiving which is also my birthday. I'll be just over 14 weeks at that point. so I'll feel more comfortable telling the world.

Thanks ladies! @NB817 : the onesie says 'I was so worth the wait'. I had seen it at a mall in a shop where they do embroiderie amd alterations probably about a year ago, and had told my husband that the day we could finally announce some good news, I was going to get one of those. We tried to make it gender neutral as we don't know yet, but I find it looks a little bit more boyish. Oh well (I have a pretty strong feeling it's a boy, so we'll see).

I got a fetal doppler (Sonoline

last week. It took me a good 45min-1hr to finally find baby (after finding my HB, a swooshing apparently artery sound, and then baby). It was clear enough for us to know the difference, but the doppler wasn't picking up on all the beats and so wouldn't calculate HR. DH and I calculated about 180 (but it's so fast that it's hard to calculate, even in a 10 sec window). I tried again the next day and couldn't find it, and haven't had time since (I also don't want it to become an obsession). So I'd say not easy, and like you've probably read elsewhere, don't freak out if you can't find it. If you think it'd make you more nervous to mot always be able to find it, than maybe that's not the best purchase for you. I paid a little under $100 with taxes and shipping, but things are often more expensive here in Canada.

I have my 1st us this Thursday. So very very excited about that.

QOTW: we told our immediate family right away as our folks knew about the IVF (we had to miss a reunion and wedding so 'work' excuse wouldn't cut it and we just came clean). Some close friends who knew about IVF also know, as well as my boss who knew about IVF/cleared time off. I don't really feel like telling anyone else, it seems like so many know already. Will probably tell more folks around Christmas but don't plan to make a big deal or formal FB post.

I have my appointment this morning. I loved the midwife, I can't wait to meet the rest! She gave me a note to try to get us out of vacation over Thanksgiving so we can tell our families ON Thanksgiving! I hope it works and they will accept it. Because I had a small subchorionic bleed (no bleeding outside the body or anything) when I had my last sonogram she wants me to have another just to be sure it's gone (plus she knew I wanted to see baby again!). I was going to have it right after my appointment but they were too busy so I go back Friday morning at 10:10am and get to see baby again. Eek!!

I also got my anatomy ultrasound scheduled. It's done by a different office which is weird. We have that done December 21, so we find out right before Christmas what the gender is! SO excited! We will tell everyone on Christmas day. On November 16th I have my next OB appointment. DH and I will HEAR the heartbeat for the first time. I can't wait!

QOTW: When we announce to the world (social media) it is going to be a picture of our dogs sitting on either side of a pair of converse shoes with the ultrasound on them. I already took the picture(s). They came out cute but not quite how I wanted so I may try again. I am going to edit them to say "... what to they mean we aren't going to be the only babies anymore?!" When we tell family we plan to do it on Thanksgiving day, like @NB817. I plan on getting a shirt that says, "This is what we are thankful for" on the belly. I just pray we are able to cancel our trip! If that doesn't work out we may wait until we find out the gender, as long as I'm not showing a lot.

I'm glad everyone is doing good. @AdorkablePixie your picture idea sounds super cute. I'm glad u got the note to cancel ur trip. I bought the Doppler (also a Sonoline

off someone on Craigslist for $30 but I did see them online for about $50.
@KidShrink I heard the heartbeat pretty quickly after about 5 mins I think only because I've had so many ultrasounds already that I knew exactly where they put the probe. I only heard one of the babies heartbeats and I didn't take too much time looking for the other one because I know if ones ok then they both are. I was on the blood thinners because when I had OHSS (@ 4weeks pregnant) my platelets went high due to my severe dehydration. I was to stay in them until week 12. So I stopped them a week early.
@NB817 ur a trooper for staying home alone for a week with a toddler n pregnant wo dh. Hope this week goes by fast.

Hi all! Us was great. Nice to finally see the LO.

everything looked good and it measured big (a little over 6 weeks even tho I'm 5+6 today). Saw a hb flicker but couldn't hear anything yet of course. Still magical!

I do have fluid in my abdomen and the ovaries are still swollen tho, so no excersize including horizontal.

( next apt is next Friday!

Hi all, nice to see that every one is moving along nicely. I had my first ultrasound yesterday. Everything looks good. Only one bean stuck (we transferred two) and I am counting my blessings. The baby measured at 6w5d and had a heartbeat of 140. Seems like my EDD is June 12, 2016. I'll be going back in one week and if everything progress normally, I'll then graduate to my regular OB

Hi! Sorry such a late update this week but it's been a tough one. DH was out of town all week and I just felt real rough. Migraines for most of the week along with what I figure were a lot of growing pains. Pretty much felt like I had just gotten off a horse every time I tried to get up and walk. Hubby is home now and I also feel much better. Still waiting on results from my prenatal bloodwork. Seriously going crazy waiting to find out the gender.

We bought a Doppler off Amazon for like $30-$50, I can't recall, back when I was 9 weeks. We didn't hear the heartbeat until week 12. It's very comforting hearing my baby.

I will be 14 weeks tomorrow so suppose I will be moving on to the 2nd tri board. So glad to hear how all of you are progressing. I will keep in touch and also see you on the other board!

QOTW: We've told close family and friends already. Suppose we will wait until we hear back on the gender to make some official announcement. Thought we would post a pic of our fur-baby with something saying he will be a big brother or some thing. I feel like everything has been done. So I dunno. Might think on it more and try to figure out something unique.

@krbjoy I am sorry about the migraines. I've been getting a lot of headaches lately, especially on work days when I am in the office. DH and I are announcing to the world the same way, using our dogs! I actually just ordered them hoodies over the weekend that say "I'm going to be a BIG SISTER" and that's how we are telling my mom because she loves our dogs and calls them her grandbabies.
