NT scan

I had my nt screening today and my papp a protein & hcg numbers came back low which can be a marker with the trisomys. Baby's nuchal fold was measured at 3mm and they are concerned when that number is 3mm and up. Has anyone experienced this or something similar? They made me so nervous. I am going in for a CVS test tomorrow.

I did my NT scan today, blood results weren't ready yet. Doc didn't give me the measurements but said everything looked okay.

Can they do the harmony or another blood test?? My son had trisomy 18 and he passed away last year (I was pregnant still) we found out because he had a cystic hydroma and we did the blood test and it came back positive for trisomy 18.

The blood test is considered a screening test and therefore not definitive (this is what they told me). The cvs and amnio are the only definitive tests bevause they can actually test and study the chromosomes. I want a definitive answer which is why I opted for the cvs.

The blood test actually takes the baby's dna. It's 99.9% accurate and non invasive.

It's also the only test they can say without a doubt if a trisomy is present.

@lisaren i was told that the blood test could only tell 98% for trisomy 18 and 91% for trisomy 13. CVSis 99.7% and they give an extremely in depth analysis of all the chromosomes. From the info presented to us, the CVS seemed like the best and most definitive option (except for the amnio but Id have to wait another 4 weeks to get that)

I don't have experience with this but I just wanted to say- even if the NT scan puts u in a high risk category, u still have a pretty high chance of delivering a healthy baby. You're in my prayers!

My doctor told me the same thing at my NT scan this morning. I'm sorry you're going through this and hope you get good results tomorrow.

I had a similar issue with my first preg. Ella's measurement was 4.2 and risk was 1:15 I didn't have any additional testing just extra ultrasounds. She was born healthy but I hated the pregnancy extreme anxiety straight after that scan. I thought the guidelines for nt test was 12 and a half weeks??

I had my NT scan Monday and measured at 3.8 I'm a nervous wreck waiting for the NIPT results (they said it would take 8-10 days) a cvs was not offered, only an amino but I can't have that done for several more weeks. I hope you got good news at your follow up.

@yogahh i had the cvs yesterday so now i am just waiting for the results. Rapid results in 2-3 days and the full results in one week. The waiting is the hardest part. Lots of praying.

Just wanted to update... Just received a call with my preliminary results and everything was normal! I am so relieved. Final results will be in next week. Thank you to everyone for your kind words!

I'm glad to see everything turned out well for you!
I had an unscheduled ultrasound today to look for separation because I'm still bleeding a fair bit. Incidentally, the NT thickness measured thick. 3.2 mm. So I've been referred for a higher detail ultrasound and pulled the materniT21 blood. Very nervous. Reassuring to see someone else has had a similar experience and it turned out okay.
