Baby Names

Female version of 'Reginald' or 'Reuven'

My grandfather passed away the month before I became pregnant.
I'm keen to incorporate his name into my baby as a sign of rememberance and respect - for a boy we can translate across but struggling to find female versions of the above names...any help?

Re: Female version of 'Reginald' or 'Reuven'

  • How about Regina, Rue, or Ravenna? Those are all that come to mind.
  • I was also going to state Regina
  • Loading the player...
  • I believe Reginald is similar to Regina...if you go the Hebrew route, you could do Malka for queen. Other names that come to mind are Riva, Ruth, Rebekah/Rebecca, Rachel, Rena.

  • Regina or Raven were my first two thoughts.

We're not fans of Regina but unfortunately it is the most literal female version.

Hadn't come across Rue or Ravenna - will have a think, thanks!

Some potentials in there! You'd think being able to have both English and Hebrew names would make this easier..
Now for the hubby litmus test....

    Raven

I really like Raven as a name - but the birds are just hulking, big, raucous beasts - not attributes I'd be keen for my potential daughter to emulate haha! ;)

Actually, Ravens are one of the smartest birds. They are playful, loyal and extremely intelligent. They can also be really noisy and a total pain in the ass!! So I understand your concern!! ;) As much as I love Ravens, I am not a huge fan of the name.  How about Reagan?

Please don't name your child Rovenna. That just reeks of being made up.

  • Hi ladies

Thanks for all your suggestions - I never thought I'd actually find help on the Internet but we've now chosen a middle name from this thread for if it is a girl.

  • Well...............what did you guys chose?
  • Rina :) which also has the meaning of 'song' or 'joy' - both of which are lovely attributes for a baby!
Ironic if we ended up with a boy though after all this!

@sorarose - Reyna was his mother's name funnily enough!
