Weird Patterns?

This is just something I thought would be fun. Has anyone else noticed weird patterns in their family following births?

In my family it's always a boy born first, then a girl. I don't really follow sports but the Royals went to the world series in 1985 when hubby was born, 2014 when DS was born, and now will go again with DD being due.

Re: Weird Patterns?

  • My SIL had a girl and then a boy. I'm having a girl so we'll see (years from now) if our next child is a girl or boy!

My side of the family has nothing but boys so I guess I'm breaking the pattern by having a girl!

  • In both mine and SO's family, there is always 3 boys before a girl. We are expecting our first, which is a boy, so we will see in time if that trend continues with us. IF we are brave and make it to 4 children. Lol

Except for you of course :-)

Well I'm talking about grandkids in the family. So nope no girls yet! :)
  • Our family thing seems to be birthdays being stacked up/close together. My husband and I are four years and one day apart in age. My sister and I are four years, two weeks apart. My father and FIL (who passed away before we were married) were born on the same week four years apart. My mother and MIL also have birthdays within a similar timeframe four years apart. And then our two daughters are two years apart exactly. Apparently one of my husband's cousins also had a baby on my daughters' birthday (right in between the two so a year younger than my first and a year older than my second). This baby is the first one kind of doing it's own thing lol
Even if he comes early, no one on either side has a birthday any where close to him. I guess that could change if the cousins have more kids (unlikely as they are all older and settled but anything is possible) or if my sister decides to eventually have children (also unlikely as she has told me flat out she isn't remotely interested in having them and that she is thrilled I've taken all the pressure off of her for providing my parents with grandchildren lol).
  • My brother and I are spring babies (birthdays are 3 weeks apart). Both of my brothers kids are December birthdays and so is our LO's due date, obviously. DH and I both are from nuclear families with 2 kids where the girl is oldest, boy younger (my brother's kids follow this pattern too). My DHs niece is late November and an only child. DH is a December b-day too.
  • I forgot, if things go as expected, my grand mother will have had a great grandchild born each year from 2013-2016. My cousin's son was born Aug 2013, DS was Oct 2014, DD due Dec 2015, my brother's is due Jan 2016.
  • My parents will have 6 grandsons (no granddaughters) after my second in December and my SIL's 3rd in March. My other SIL has one boy. My mom hasn't said it to me, but I know she's dying for a granddaughter - I probably wouldn't have been born if one of my older brothers had been a girl. :-S
  • My grandpa wished for nothing but girls. He had two daughters and each of his daughters had two daughters. I'm pregnant with my first (and it's a girl! ).
  • My side of the family has nothing but boys, except for my Mom and myself...and now my niece (out of 6)...my husbands side always starts with a boy followed by 2 girls and the 4th being a boy...
This is our first and we are having a boy...so we'll see what happens with our second...when the time comes!
  • My little sister and I seem to have screwed up the "pattern" haha. My Gma has a girl, a boy and then two girls, my mom has the same. My OLDER sister has the same. I have a girl and am having another girl and my younger sister has a little boy
  • Patterns give me a headache.
  • My DH's family there was 1 boy first then the rest were girls (4), Then that generation had 1 girl first and the rest were boys (7). Now with DH's generation his cousin had a boy first and the rest have been girls since (3 so far).
  • I've had my son and daughter at the same ages that my grandmother had my uncle and mom...just 63 years later. My grandmother and I have a lot of similarities in our health, life, and personality. On my husband's side, our DS is a fifth generation first born male.
  • On my side...all my siblings with kids have had a baby who was the same sex first. My sister and I both had girls first, and 2 of my 3 brothers have both had boys first. (Still waiting on my last brother to have kids to see if it holds true for him as well.) So far all the second born children have been the same sex as the first-born in their family as well, but not all of my sibs have more than one kid.

Also, one of my brothers ended up with the same day of the month for his firstborn's birthday as I did...just in a different month. Since the other 2 siblings with kids are actually half-siblings, I'm curious if my last (full) brother will follow that trend too.

I haven't noticed any patterns on my hubby's side of the family.
