What to wear? Being induced tomorrow

I'm wondering what people wear to the hospital. I have some stretch pants and a tunic to wear home but what do I wear when I arrive? It will be 8 at night. Stretch pants? Jeans and a sweater?

Not sure because when my friend was in labor she was told to walk around the hospital and they went to the cafeteria and Starbucks. I don't want to look gross but also don't want to be uncomfortable.

  • Not sure about your hospital but at mine they pretty much had me immediately changed into the hospital gown. Even when I did my walking that's what I was wearing. Trust me on this one, you won't care about looking gross. Between contractions & the excitement of the little one, you won't be worried about how you look.
That being said I just wore a pair of comfortable but decent lounge style pants & a fitted tank top with a cardigan. But assuming they are going to hook you up to either cervadil or pitocin, they will probably have you change right away

  • I wore my maternity leggings and a sweater which was also what I wore home Bc once I got there my outfit went into my bag. You're going to change right when you get there so I wouldn't put too much thought into it.
  • I wore a tshirt and running shorts. Like pp said my hospital started me on fluids and Pitocin once I got admitted so I was in a hospital gown right away. I do recommend wearing socks though, that room was freezing and I was glad I had socks to keep my feet warm!
  • I was induced unexpectedly and they had me change into the hospital gown right away. I wasn't allowed to leave the bed after that so it honestly didn't matter what I was wearing.
    Good luck!!
  • baggy pants and a singlet, it all ends up coming off pretty quick anyway!
