Miscarriage/Pregnancy Loss

First month TTC, first BFP, first MC....

Hi everyone,
I'm truly happy to be part of a supportive community. I was lucky enough to get pregnant the very first cycle we tried to conceive. After a few days of BFPs and no AF we were delighted to think I was pregnant! Called the OBGYN, joined birth month clubs etc. Unfortunately I miscarried yesterday at 5 weeks 4 days. It started with brown spotting and proceeded to be full blown HEAVY AF, cold sweats, nausea, cramping and dizziness. Spent 5 hours in the ER making sure everything was alright. I can't wait for this to pass...Thinking of taking the next cycle "off" to heal. My stalking shows this might be the safe bet?

Re: First month TTC, first BFP, first MC....

  • Yes. Your doctor should follow your hcg to zero to be sure there is no retained tissue, which I think is rare in early miscarriages. It is safe to give it a month and let your body heal and reset. Hard to wait but worth it to have piece of mind for a future bfp that you did everything you could to have a safe pregnancy.

  • Thanks so much for your input. I'll indeed rest for this next month and see how AF comes in. I'm also going to start temping so let's see how that goes!

I'm really sorry for your loss. I'm going through exactly the same thing and it's hard to find someone that understands how we feel in the "real world". I am just wondering (if you don't mind sharing)... how long did it take you to miscarry? I started spotting yesterday and I'm really worried about what's going to happen next...

  • @pat87 My spotting started brown and light and then proceeded to be very heavy and bright red blood. I had a few hours of severe cramps and nausea and overall dizziness. It was not a fun experience. However, after the initial "pass" happened I was simply crampy and nauseous for a day after that. I did, however, bleed for a total of 7 days. Thankfully my bleeding became less and less but definitely soaked through pads. I didn't use tampons because I was afraid of an infection but I might just be paranoid!

I'm really sorry you're having to go through this. If you want to pm me please do. You're not alone.
  • @mom2adoodle wow... I'm still on the spotting part... not looking forward to the rest..

Thank you! Hopefully it'll work out for us soon! hugs!

  • Hi, same boat for me. First cycle, first try, first pregnancy, first miscarriage. I was in the June 2016 boards, perhaps you were as well. This happened today. Literally I was on the June 2016 message boards this afternoon, and now I'm here. Anyway, we are in the same boat. I feel your pain.

It's been a long road- Let's just say that!
  • @pat87 how are you doing?
  • @Raincity I'm so sorry to hear that. Yeah, I joined TB on the June BMB :( I was honestly very excited to have a June baby but life had other plans..Benched until AF comes in hopefully a month or so...let's see if she's regular....What's your status now? How are you doing?
  • @mom2adoodle  I'm okay... under the circumstances... I went to get my second HcG beta on Wednesday (after she said that my pregnancy was nonviable because of extremely low progesterone (0.5)) and it showed that the levels were doubling (from 27 to 65, which is super low since I should be 6 weeks along now).  My doctor wants me to get another beta on Monday...  but I am now starting to feel some cramps.  This is so stressful! How are you feeling??  I'm thinking I might want to wait until after Christmas, just because I don't want to be stressed out over the Holidays...

@Raincity... so sorry for your loss!

  • @pat87 so sorry to hear about the cramps. hopefully this passes soon and you're not suffering too much. but no matter what it's still frustrating/sad/disappointing :( interesting about your betas. mine were 5 at last check so uh, yeah, nothing there. but hearing that my betas were higher would have been stressful! are you doing ok?

and I'm actually waiting until after the holidays too...turns out my husband will have to travel for work the week of my predicted ovulation. ha! funny how life works.... bummer though :/
  • @mom2adoodle I'm doing ok! I think I am coming to terms with the idea... There are moments I get really upset, but I am just hopeful that it will work out soon! And hey.... at least we can get pregnant!! :)

Well... hopefully we'll have October 2016 babies :)
