I just went to the bathroom and the whole cloth portion of my underwear was wet. I know I've heard when your water breaks it'll be either a slow leak or a large gush. I have no clue what to do! I've had back pain and cramping all day. Help!!
Lay down for a little while and then stand up. Typically if it doesn't gush when you do that it hasn't broken. It could be sweating. I'm finding myself getting hot flashes pretty constantly recently.
I always worry about this too. It can be a slow leak....try putting a liner in and see if it gets soaked. And not to be gross, but give it a wiff- does it smell like urine? Or feel like discharge? Call your dr just to be sure.
I had a similar experience and mine ended up just being watery discharge BUT when I described what happened to my OB she wanted me to got to L&D to be checked just in case. If there is any possibility that it was your water breaking they want to know as soon as possible. Please call your doctor.
I had a two-layered amniotic sac. The outer layer ruptured in the morning, but they had to rupture the inner layer at the hospital during labor the next day.
Mine didn't do one large gush or leak. It kept doing several small gushes over time. But you should go in if you think it's possible. L&D will be able to either tell right away or test it. I know the general rule most places is they want baby out within 24 hours due to risk of infection but I spiked a fever after about 9 hours and baby had to spend the next 48 hours on antibiotics.
This was me today. I had a significantly large trickle after standing up. The hospital had me come in after putting on a pad to collect more. A ph strip was inconclusive but an internal swab that they held under a microscope determined it was just watery vaginal fluid. How on earth can one tell the difference!? My doctor actually had no idea what it was until she had it tested because even she was fooled. They told me to keep coming back any time that happens again because as pp said, there is a risk of infection and they need to know the exact time when your water ruptures to start that clock...... Needless to say I've had two more big trickles since and I haven't gone back yet.. It's REALLY hard to tell! Phone and see what your hospital says. Better safe than sorry
Go in and get it checked. My water broke it came in three gushes that only soaked my underwear. And those three gushes came about 30 minutes to an hour apart.
