I usually get up and walk within 12 hours after my c sections. I learned after the first one that the sooner I got up and moving the better I felt. When I got home I continued to walk short easy walks and feel it really helps with fluid retention post surgery.
Next day since my Csection was at night.... Dr & nurses were persistent & wanted me up & walking around. Now that I'm home 10 days post baby I have been doing some easy walking on my street for about 10-15 min a day.
They only made me walk to the bathroom and that was about 15 hours afterward. I didn't get up for any other reason the 48 hours I was in the hospital. After going through my recovery at home I wish I would have gotten up more than that even if just to walk around my room.
I was told to walk around the hospital as soon as I was let out of bed (24 hours after). Once at home, I'd go on "easy" walks right away, but like PP said, pay attention to your body and don't push too hard.
However, walkings helps not only to move excess fluid out of your body but it also will help keep your bowels moving (especially important because painkillers are constipating).
Thank you ladies. I did walk the next day after my c-section but was more wondering about going for stroller walks, I am almost a week out from surgery. I think I will just start and see how it goes.

We took baby in the stroller about a week after. Short walk down the block. I'm not up to long walks yet.

I wouldn't over due your self, your insides are still very fragile and in the process of healing !!
I'm 7 weeks post c section and I'm still having trouble walking long distances. Over an hour shopping makes me terribly sore. But I was also on hospital bed rest for 6 weeks prior so I think my muscles need extra help getting back to normal.
