Surprise October Baby

So I can't believe I'm writing this but looks like I've joined your bump month. I have a June 2012 baby and I remember these forums as a great place to exchange stories and get advice. I've been lurking here for a few days wondering if I should post something and trying to get over the shock of my baby girl who was born on October 12th. She was a huge surprise for DH and I. I've been training for an ultra marathon all spring and summer and I thought that was why my period had become so irregular and in retrospect was more like light spotting. I'd had gained a little bit of weight, maybe 10lbs but I thought it was due to my age, I'm 39, and the calories I was consuming to keep up my training. I honestly had no idea I was pregnant, I never felt this baby move like I did DS, and I didn't feel any different. On October 11th I was our for a run and experienced such terrible cramping I had to call DH to come pick me up. We ended up going to the ER thinking I was have appendicitis or kidney stones, honestly we had no idea what it was. I actually laughed through my tears when the ER docs asked me if I could be pregnant. I really wasn't showing so they were a little surprised what the ultrasound reveled to say the least. Several hours later, in the early morning of the 12th DD arrived. 5lbs 4 ounces but healthy. She stayed in NICU for a fews due to her small size (docs believe she was not quite full term) and our lack of prenatal care. But she's perfect. We feel so blessed but also a little shell shocked and very embarrassed. She's home now and we are introducing her to our friends and family. Quite a surprise for everyone! Hope you don't mind my joining this group so late in the game, this has been quite the adventure!
