Just used Seche Vite Top Coat (has dangerous chemicals)...freaking out!!

Hi Ladies,

I know there is so much talk about painting your nails and three certain chemicals that are a nono - one of theme ( Toulene) causing birth defects.

I am horrified right now. I painted them at my house, got a little worried and googled the risks.

Has anyone else had an experience like this? I mean...I read that I shouldn't really worry unless I'm like, huffing the stuff, or using it frequently, or am a nail technician (which I'm not).

Can anyone help me put my mind at ease? I feel AWFUL!

If you were a regular nail painter, it would be suggested to avoid it. But once isn't going to be enough to harm your baby. It would be more if you were frequently exposed to it!

I'm a nail tech and I use nail polish all day, pretty much everyday (not on myself) as well as a bunch of other chemicals and my doctor told me not to worry. (Just make sure to wear my face mask and limit exposure to the gluteraldihyde I have to use to clean my tools)

I know plenty of women that have been regular clients of mine that got acrylic nails and manicures through their whole pregnancy and had beautiful happy healthy babies.

If you're still worried, talk to your doctor. But I'm sure you have nothing to worry about.

Used it last night too. Most of the reading has said that nail polish isn't an issue. Just don't go sniffing on the stuff regularly. I'm a regular nail painter...I'm not too concerned.
