For my 2nd trimester we were so happy to find out were having a girl. But then the doctor tells us that she only has 2 vessel cords when there's suppose to be 3. He didn't seem to concerned to just said might lead to lower birth weight. But. Older studies showd complications with this in children with chromosome issues. So I had my down syndrome test done that came back negative but is not 100% accurate. Should I pursue this more or not loose any sleep and chances are she's fine.
Re: Only 2 vessel cord should I be worried??!! please help need others oppinions
It can be an indicator of Edwards Syndrome (trisonomy 18), but it's not all that common, so if you had the chromosomal test and your doctor isn't concerned there's no reason you should either.
ETA: spellcheck and added to my last sentence.

@MammaGeorge22 - I had this with DS and he turned out perfect!
My primary OB set me up with a high risk OB for monitoring. Not sure if your doctor plans to do the same but I also had really high BP which also compounded the issue. At the high risk OB I had a weekly ultrasound and NSTs but would follow-up with my primary OB who I saw every other week until my BP got worse and then had to see him weekly.
While DS was on the 'smaller' side when he was born he gained weight quick enough and you'd never know today.
My primary OB made sure I knew it was a fluke and there was nothing I could have done to cause it/prevent it. However he said it was rare for it to happen again and I can assure you this pregnancy is very different from my first.
From all my research online I think we are in good shape as the link to the trisomony disorders has not been proven and genetic testing while not 100% accurate has already provided the risk factor. My understanding is that with a SVU we have a 30% risk of complications, however, a large portion of that percentage includes having a smaller baby.
